Historia
Two suspicious deaths challenge DS Alan Banks and his crack investigative team. A young local student’s body is found in an abandoned car on a lonely country road. The death looks like suicide, but there are too many open questions for Banks and his team to rule out foul play. The victim didn’t own a car. A man in his 60s is found dead in a gully up on the wild moorland. He is wearing an expensive suit and carrying no identification. Post mortem findings indicate that he died from injuries sustained during a fall. Was it an accident - did he slip and fall? Or was he pushed?

Banks reviews of music
Revisado: 01-06-25
The subject matter is sad, but believable. The resolution made perfect sense, one that most readers were expecting, but didn’t mind the ride to get there!

Historia
A girl must watch her figure but never be vain. She must be intelligent but never a know-it-all. She must be ambitious, if she is clever, but not in a way that shows. She must cook and sew and make do and mend. She must know (but never say) that these skills are, in some fundamental way, flawed and frivolous—feminine. Girls must stay small, even as they grow. Women must show restraint. And yet. In books, in the landscape of imagination, a girl can run free.

Amazing
Revisado: 10-30-24
Sarah Moss is one of the world’s most wonderful writers. I know she’s critically loved, but anyone who reads this book will find it impossible to come away with anything but awe. Her words, her thinking, her bravery. All encompassing. Her story is one that needs to be heard by EVERYONE. As a 75 year old grandmother and homemaker, her writing on women, and the contradictions and complexities of ALL women captured me, illustrated me, focused me and infused me with gratitude. THANK YOU SARAH MOSS!

The sense of the times
Revisado: 08-28-24
Hillary Mantel has given me so much with Wolf Hall. England in the years of Henry VIII, a mesmerizing character study of Thomas Cromwell, and his genius, a different take on Thomas Moore, Anne Boleyn, Mary Boleyn, all the characters humanized and accessible, hours of entertainment and gorgeous writing, and the leaving sense of wanting MORE!
