Title: The Princess Spy
Written By: Melanie Dickerson
Narrated by: Jude Mason
Genre: Christian Historical Fiction/Fairy Tale Retelling
Recommended Ages: 13 & up
Introduction:
After finishing the fourth book in this series and meeting Margaretha made me want to learn more about her. So when I read the description for this book, I knew I wanted to read it. This book did not disappoint. I loved Margaretha's story.
Characters: 1/1
Margaretha and Colin were great characters! I loved their interaction and how the language barrier worked between them. Margaretha knew some English, but Colin didn't know hardly any German. And the fun they had with the language (especially Colin calling her a flibbertigibbet and telling her that meant being a good spy) was priceless!
Dialogue: 1/1
I already touched on this a little, but the dialogue between all of these characters was great! Melanie did an amazing job writing the talkativeness of Margaretha.
Plot/Storyline: .5/1
I liked the majority of this plot and storyline. But there were a few things that bugged me. One, I knew this was supposed to be a retelling of a fairy tale, but I couldn't figure out which one and then decided maybe it was two? I think it was supposed to be a take on the Princess and the Frog, but I'm still not sure. That bugged me for a lot of the book. Thus the lower rank.
Overall Writing Quality: 1/1
From what I could tell from listening to the book, the writing quality was well done. I didn't notice anything that didn't make sense or that pulled me out of the book.
Un-Put-Down-Ability: 1/1
I couldn't listen to the book non-stop, but there were definitely many times when I wanted to just keep on listening so I could find out what happened. The ending was great! Although, the romance did happen a little quick in my opinion, but since they were in such an interesting situation, I think in this case, it was somewhat justified.
Conclusion: 4.5/5
If you like medieval romance, you will like this book. Especially if you don't like super mushy romance because they don't get too mushy until about 2/3rds through the book. I think it was a good book and the narrator did a good job, too.

Bringing the story alive again
Revisado: 08-10-18
Title: Joseph of Arimathea
Written By: Sarah Holman
Narrated By: Stephen Floyd
Genre: Christian Biblical Fiction
Recommended Ages: Any
Introduction:
I haven't read much fiction about the resurrection, so I was interested to listen to this book. I am glad I did.
Characters: 1/1
The characters were each unique in their own way. I especially liked Joseph, Cleopas, and Nicodemus. Stephen Floyd brought them to life very realistically as well. I loved the accents he used for some of the characters.
Dialogue: 1/1
I loved how much Scripture was brought alive in this book in the dialogue. It was well done and the parts that were not from the Bible fit in with the time period.
Plot/Storyline: 1/1
Sarah brought in three of my favorite stories in the New Testament and wove them together in a way I had never thought of before and did it very well!
Overall Writing and Production Quality: 1/1
The story was well-written and the use of the Bible done well without it being all straight from the Bible. The production of the audiobook was well done, too. The narrator did a good job portraying each character as well as the narration.
Un-put-down-ability: 1/1
This is a short story and audible says it is 36 minutes long, so it would have been hard to put down simply for that fact, but even though I knew roughly what the end of this story would be since I know my Bible, I still didn't want to stop listening. It helps that the narrator had a good voice that is easy to listen to.
Conclusion: 5/5
If you are finding the Resurrection story to be stale, try listening to or reading this short story. It will help bring the story alive again.

Didn't care for the narrator, but liked the story
Revisado: 08-06-18
Title: Befriended
Written By: Sarah Holman
Genre: Christian Romance with mild Fantasy elements (mostly the names of people and places)
Recommended Ages: Any, but teens and older would enjoy it more
Introduction:
I hadn't read any of Sarah's Tales of Taelis stories before, so this was my first taste of them. I enjoyed it and wouldn't mind reading more in the future. The only thing I didn't like about this audiobook was the narrator's voice for Eleanor was too high-pitched and whiny. She made Eleanor sound like a little girl rather than a young woman.
Characters: 1/1
Even though I hadn't read any of the Tales of Taelis books before, I was still able to find each of the characters interesting. Sarah did a good job introducing each character, especially those who must have shown up in a previous book.I especially liked Kaden (spelling may be wrong since I listened to it rather than reading it).
Dialogue: 1/1
The dialogue was well-written and fit the story well. As I mentioned in my introduction. The only part I didn't like was when Eleanor was read by the narrator.
Plot/storyline: 1/1
The plot definitely kept my interest through the whole story. I'm so glad I was able to listen to this book. It had a great message about waiting for God to send the right man for marriage. I can personally attest to that, too.
Overall writing quality: 1/1
The writing quality was very good. Obviously, since I didn't read the book, I can't say conclusively there were no typos, but from the sound of it, there weren't any. The plot structure was well done, too.
Un-put-down-ability: 1/1
This audiobook is about 30 minutes long, so it was easy to keep listening until the end, especially since I was listening at 1.15 speed until the end when I wanted to make sure Eleanor's whiny voice wasn't due to the faster speed. Even if it had been longer, though, I think it would have been very hard to put down. I wanted to know what happened!
Conclusion: 5/5
If you like a short romance story, this is a good one. It may be in a fantasy genre, but it doesn't have magic or anything like that in it. There is also a good amount of mention of God in it, so this world must have a Christian religion structure to it. If I had read the book rather than listening to it, I would have enjoyed it even more, but I will still give it a five star rating.

Narrator was great!
Revisado: 10-03-17
I loved the narrator. She did a great job on the various voices and pacing of the book.
As for the book itself, the storyline was okay. The plot was good. As always, this couple could have used some great advice before they reached adulthood. Main great advice: Communicate, communicate, communicate. Talk to each other.
My main issue with the book (besides the communicate one) is that there were a lot of slang words. No, none of them were "bad," but you knew exactly what she meant when she said them. Or what she would have said if the book hadn't been written by a clean author.
I liked the ending, but can't tell you exactly why due to spoilers.

I really liked this book. My only complaint is that there wasn't more at the end, but even that wasn't too bad. Sarah did a great job writing it. Micah's reading was easy to listen to and I liked the accents he was able to do.

This audiobook had a great narrator, but also a wonderful storyline. I loved the twist on the Beauty and the Beast fairytale. It was creative and unique. It did touch on some fairly mature content, so if you are younger than 13, please get your parents to listen to/read it first.

I loved it!
Revisado: 10-03-17
I loved this audiobook! I loved it before when I read it in both eBook and Paperback format, but it was so nice to be able to be on my exercise bike, do dishes, and clean the house while listening to the author read her own book. It was great!
