Historia
In a blink, I found myself in an unknown land, greeted by the textbox of an unfriendly system. It wanted me to become a great hero, save the world, win the love of the people and all that crap. But this new world already had a hero. Why should I bust my ass, deal with dragons and the unknown, for people I didn't know? Let him deal with that. It's his job! So instead of being tempted by the system's nonsense, I chose a simple class. Potion maker. I wasn't interested in cultivating mana and defying the heavens, courting death, none of that crap.

Wild pacing
Revisado: 04-23-25
The performance of the audiobook is fantastic. My biggest issue is the story pacing is all over the place.
The story is interesting, but Nate is dropped into the world and is instantly loved and respected by everyone and then gets everything he wants. There is no room for the story to breathe, to actually show him getting stronger. He just seems to instantly know all the top tier powers precisely when they’re needed, and I’m like “wait when did he get that ability or even know he had it, or try it out before it is suddenly needed”
And suddenly talking about cultivation without explaining it from the start.
Seriously, there’s a good story here, but this felt more like a first draft waiting to be fleshed out a bit more into a proper story. And considering the audiobook is like half the length of most similar litrpgs, it’s clear something is going on.
I hope the rest of the series takes its time better.

Historia
Ruby Young's new Boston apartment comes with all the usual perks. Windows facing the brick wall of the next-door building. Heat that barely works. A malfunctioning buzzer. Noisy neighbors. A dead body on the sidewalk outside. And of course, a ghost. Since Cordelia Graves died in her apartment a few months ago, she's kept up her residency, despite being bored out of her (non-tangible) skull and frustrated by her new roommate. When her across-the-hall neighbor, Jake Macintyre, is shot and killed in an apparent mugging gone wrong outside their building, Cordelia is convinced there’s more to it.

Ghoul Power
Revisado: 03-26-25
Man what a fun and fantastic book. The plot is interesting and the concept is interesting.
The way that the pair interact with each other and the world around them is absolutely unique and WE NEED BOOK 2 ASAP.
SERIOUSLY.
While the main mystery was resolved rather hurriedly, it’s fun seeing in hindsight the trail of skittles that lead to the final resolution. And while this book was mostly self-contained, it obviously has a lot of meat for a sequel and I need it now.

Historia
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

A Masterpiece
Revisado: 03-22-25
This book tickles all of the boxes to form a story that captures my attention and doesn’t let go. By the end of the book, I was in tears.
It truly is a perfect blend of science, fiction, time travel, space travel, suspense.
Grace demonstrates everything it means to be human.
The Martian was good, but Project Hail Mary may be my new all-time favorite book.
I wish I could spend more time in this world Weir has created.

Historia
In 2019, author John Green met Henry Reider, a young tuberculosis patient at Lakka Government Hospital in Sierra Leone. John became fast friends with Henry, a boy with spindly legs and a big, goofy smile. In the years since that first visit to Lakka, Green has become a vocal advocate for increased access to treatment and wider awareness of the healthcare inequities that allow this curable, preventable infectious disease to also be the deadliest, killing over a million people every year. In Everything Is Tuberculosis, John tells Henry’s story.

Truly human
Revisado: 03-20-25
John Green has an amazing ability to make a topic come alive. And something as seemingly boring as “tuberculosis”, he makes you actually care. It’s unfathomable that it is still our leading cause of death.
John makes you care, through anecdotes and deeply personal experiences.
He is also the perfect narrator for this book. He has such a calming yet authoritative voice, And you can hear his passion and care for the topic drenched in his voice.
This is a book that deserves to belong it everyone’s library.

Historia
Ever since Martin Banks and his fellow computer geeks discovered that reality is just a computer program to be happily hacked, they've been jaunting back and forth through time, posing as medieval wizards and having the epic adventures that other nerds can only dream of having. But even in their wildest fantasies, they never expected to end up at the mercy of the former apprentice whom they sent to prison for gross misuse of magic and all-around evil behavior.

Revisado: 03-01-15
I love this series. It takes the idea of magic and gives it a fun twist.
As the third book in the series, this book takes the world and characters that we've gotten to know, and explores what happens when suddenly they're somewhere unexpected and without the powers we've come to know.
I absolutely loved this book. And the book is read perfectly. Luke gives each character their own voice that I swear surprises me that it's the same guy. Expert voice actor!
I cannot express enough how eager I am for more from Scott Meyer and Luke Daniels!

Way better than expected!
Revisado: 09-01-14
Where does Off to Be the Wizard rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
This was one of the most enjoyable audiobooks to listen to! Wasn't sure what to expect from the story, but it ended up being very interesting. Lots of fun!
Who was your favorite character and why?
Oooh, tough question. Probably Phillip or Gwen. Phillip's interactions and attitude toward Jimmy were hilarious. Gwen was very interesting, but I don't think she received enough attention in the book. Maybe a sequel?
Have you listened to any of Luke Daniels’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
First one, but would definitely be eager to hear more from Luke. He does a phenomenal job of giving each character their own unique voice that really captures the essence of the character, without seeming "silly". Hard to believe it's the same person doing all the voices!
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Absolutely! I almost managed to do it, too! Only had one hour remaining when I had to take a break to sleep (since it was 3am)
Any additional comments?
A really good book, exploring different ideas, basically asking "if you had the ability to change anything you wanted, and do anything you wanted, what would you do, and what would be the consequences?"
Lots of fun, and very enjoyable listen.
