The story was feeling a little thin going into this book but the amount of teenage lust and ridiculous sex scenes makes this book seem more likely to have been written by a horny kid than a reputable author. Not only is it distasteful, but the situations and dialog are so unbelievable. The teenagers behave and conduct themselves with an adult's aggressive and unabashed confidence. The female narrator is horrible at emotional inflection and accents. The only good part of this book is Roger Wayne. He is always great and that's the only reason I finished this book, which makes sense because he is the reason I started too.

My only wish is that there wasn't such a long wait for the next story. I've enjoyed Scalzi's writing for many years and his new stuff is just getting better and better. Highly recommend. It's shorter than a full length novel but so worth it!

the story is gripping and the subtle changes in narration for each character's back story makes this one of my new favorite books.

I started the series and was very excited about the direction the first few books were going in but this one seemed different. almost like the story is dragging on and it needs to be finished. don't know if I'll bother with the next...

Neal exercises his great intellectual prowess with this story but the overall story is so worth it. His in depth explanations seem to almost overwhelm the reader but then the story is saved in the nick-of-time. Really enjoyed the character development.

My first Croshaw book was Mogworld and it took me several attempts to get on board with it. However, once I got past the 1st chapter, I became a true fan. His witty, deadpan narration and hilarious and clever storylines are addictive. This addition to the DEDA series is just as great as all of his books. Well written, perfectly delivered, with great character development, and a mystery that keeps u on the hook to the very end. I not only recommend this story, but also all of his previous ones as well. He doesn't disappoint.

Originally read the books as they were published and decided to re-read the series by audiobook to refresh my memory before starting the last installment. Was a little put off initially by Jefferson Mays but by the time I started Leviathan Falls I appreciated his ability to switch between female and male characters and his ability to subtly change inflection was a compliment to the story. There was a lot of pressure for this book's success and I think it did well. Of course there was an epic battle to conclude the storyline and anyone who's gotten this far should already know that it can't be a happily ever after kind of thing; there had to be more meaning to it, and it did. They tied up all the character's stories well and left a lot of room for the reader's imagination. I recommend the entire series and the related novellas. By far some of the most creative and entertaining books I've ever read. (And I'm a librarian so I've read quite a bit.)
