Great mix of old English charm and fantasy
Revisado: 04-22-24
A wonderful set of characters with some intriguing mysteries thrown in. A great series. India and Matt have a slow simmering chemistry that is sweet like taffy.

Boring
Revisado: 03-31-23
I found this dramatization boring. Completely predictable from the start. I'm not sure who the target audience is. I'm not from coal country but I could easily imagine someone who is being offended by the cliche portrayal of the characters.

a good continuation
Revisado: 09-06-22
This is book didn't hook me as much as the previous 2 books but it was still enjoyable. The voice actors and sounds engineering is excellent, just like the previous books in the series. The story didn't advance very much, not did the characters show much growth. hopefully the 4th book will resolve some of the out plot threads.

click here for teen anger and angst
Revisado: 11-11-21
The voice actress was great. However I can't say so for the story. It is dripping with teen anger and angst. If that is your thing then you may like it. Main character lurches from one rage topic to the next. Story got so depressing for me I had to stop 2/3 of the way through.

entertaining and informative
Revisado: 01-30-21
Great advice and step-by-step instructions for beginners or intermediate investors. DIY investing. Collins spends an appropriate amount of time on each phase of your financial life journey without belaboring any topic. That said, if you are interested in options trading, real estate investing, futures contracts , or the like, then you need to look elsewhere.

If you like Sanderson's longer stories then you will almost certainly like these too. There's plenty of character development and plot - perhaps a bit light on the world building but that's ok.

Good, easy story
Revisado: 10-19-20
This story is fine. The world building is intriguing but the characters are a little stereotypical. Gorgeous guy sees gorgeous girl and must date her even though she obviously doesn't want anything to do with him. But he's gorgeous so, you know, it's ok if he pushes himself on her. If you like reading about gorgeous people and how they live in their bubble then this is a good one for you.

Historia
Narrated by Emmy Award–winning actor Martin Sheen, The Home Front: Life in America During World War II takes listeners into the lives of Americans at home—part of the Greatest Generation—who supported the war effort and sustained the country during wartime. The war brought immediate, life-changing shifts: the rationing of meat, dairy products, and sugar; an explosion of war-related jobs; and, despite mixed signals, a greater role for women working outside the home.

Gives context and consequences
Revisado: 07-30-20
WW II happened many decades before I was born so I found this series an excellent way to understand the context of American sentiment before, during and after the war. It covers a vast number of events and describes how those events were perceived at the time and what lasting impact they've had. For me, it was astonishing to learn how many things, that are considered normal today, essentially started because of WW II.

A good life guidebook
Revisado: 06-08-20
This is a charming story of an entitled young man who undergoes a year long transformation to become a decent human being. At times I wished some of the lessons would go into greater detail, however I think the author didn't want this story to over stay it's welcome. I appreciate that. Good narrator who is a pleasure to listen to. I'm sure I'll listen to this one again and again.

Historia
Without John C. Houbolt, a mid-level engineer at NASA, Apollo 11 would never have made it to the moon. Top NASA engineers on the project, including Werner Von Braun, strongly advocated for a single, huge spacecraft to travel to the moon, land, and return to Earth. It's the scenario used in 1950s cartoons and horror movies about traveling to outer space. Houbolt had another idea: Lunar Orbit Rendezvous. LOR would link two spacecraft in orbit while the crafts were travelling at 3,600 miles an hour around the moon. His plan was ridiculed and considered unthinkable.

Different angle on Moon landing event
Revisado: 06-05-20
This documentary is a refreshing new angle (for me at least) on the moon landing story. It focuses not on the science behind the landing or the famous astronauts but on the NASA engineers who were tasked with figuring out HOW to do it. These behind the scenes engineers are not often talked about but obviously crucial to any of it happening. A subtext of this documentary is the burden big bureaucracy can have on the scientific process. Fascinating story and probably resonates with scientist/engineers who have worked on teams of moderate to large size.
