Historia
My nine-year-old daughter Hollie should be leaving school smiling and laughing with all the other children but she’s not here. I run frantically, checking everywhere, my voice growing louder, but I can’t see her bright blue eyes and heart-shaped face anywhere. Pure panic washes over me. This is my worst nightmare. Her teacher asks me if she should call the police. My heart stops. I shake my head and pretend I’ve made a mistake. I see a look of suspicion creep into the teacher’s eyes. But the police can’t know. No one can. My hands shake as I realise I’m completely on my own.

Bring Back DCI Logan and Hoon
Revisado: 04-19-25
I love JD Kirk. He is one of my favorite authors. I’ll put another novel on pause to listen to Logan et al., Hoon, and Heather Filson. I thought Him was great. But I couldn’t finish this. I was listening to a Jack Gatland when this was released and I was excited, paused the Gatland, but I went back to it. Sorry JD, but please stay with our beloved Logan, Tyler, Sinead, Shona, Ben, Hamza, and the others. Even Cathleen McCarron, who narrates the Filson novels, didn’t sound the same. All around, I was disappointed.

Historia
On a hot August night, Lt. Eve Dallas and her husband, Roarke, speed through the streets of Manhattan to the Down and Dirty club, where a joyful, boisterous pre-wedding girls’ night out has turned into a murder scene. One of the brides lies in a pool of blood, garroted in a private room where she was preparing a surprise for her fiancée—two scrimped and saved-for tickets to Hawaii. Despite the dozens of people present, useful witnesses are hard to come by. It all brings back some bad memories for Eve.

Same ‘ol’ same ‘ol’.
Revisado: 09-04-24
I haven’t even completed the novel yet, but it reads like all the previous novels. They have become tiresome. Robb/Roberts follows a template for her “In Death” series, which is fine for some readers, but the boredom has set it. I’ve been switching between this and another book I’m currently listening to, which I’ve never done before. Even Susan Erickson seems a bit finished, but I might be imposing my feelings on her narration. Confirmation bias :).

It all started harmlessly enough. An egged window, a deflated car tire, and a few garden gnomes knocked over. But then, the silent calls began–late nights and early mornings to landlines and mobiles, and numbers that no one should have access to.

Brilliant!
Revisado: 07-27-23
The series gets better and better! JD Kirk integrated different story lines that seamlessly converged (with the exception of one, which I look forward to in the next novel). My ear buds could barely stay in place with the laughs, thrills, twists, and uncertainties. I was tempted to skip ahead to assure myself all our beloved characters would survive, even Hoon, who I equally adore compared with the rest of MIT. If you are devoted to DCI Logan et al., be prepared to fully enjoy the next 11 hours.

Historia
It was a glittering event full of A-listers, hosted by Eliza Lane and Brant Fitzhugh, a celebrity couple who’d conquered both Hollywood and Broadway. And now Eve Dallas has made her entrance—but not as a guest. After raising a toast, Fitzhugh fell to the floor and died, with physical symptoms pointing to cyanide, and the police have crashed the party. From all accounts, he wasn’t the kind of star who made enemies. Everyone loved him—even his ex-wife. And since the champagne cocktail that killed him was originally intended for Eliza, it’s possible she was the real target.

Unnecessary Verbiage
Revisado: 02-11-23
I have all JD Robb’s novels and I almost abandoned this one-hour into the book. To be blunt, it’s boring until the final 1.5-hours. The novel consists of too many unnecessary interviews and details of the rich and famous’ New York apartments, so far as to include descriptions of chair upholstery. Robb spent far too much time on each individual’s clothing, makeup, and jewelry, which added little to the storyline. Skip chapters….you won’t miss much.

Historia
This live performance of a powerful police procedural comes to life through the artistry of Celeste Lecesne and is accompanied by the original music of Duncan Sheik. Celeste portrays every character in a small Jersey Shore town as they unravel the story of Leonard Pelkey, a tenaciously optimistic and flamboyant 14-year-old boy who has gone missing. A luminous force of nature whose magic is only truly felt once he is gone, Leonard becomes an unexpected inspiration as the town’s citizens question how they live, who they love, and what they leave behind.

Historia
Zachary Quinto - best known for his role as the Nimoy-approved Spock in the recent Star Trek reboot and the menacing, power-stealing serial killer, Sylar, in Heroes - brings his well-earned sci-fi credentials and simmering intensity to this audio-exclusive novella from master storyteller John Scalzi. One day, not long from now, it becomes almost impossible to murder anyone - 999 times out of a thousand, anyone who is intentionally killed comes back. How? We don't know.

More Dispatcher, Please!
Revisado: 06-05-17
Is dispatching the means to decrease Earth's murder rate; save accident victims and those who would die during unsuccessful surgeries? Does God direct transport home or is it physics? Should there be a reset? How might this impact population growth?
Scalzi indirectly poses excellent questions.
Fantastic book and narration! Give me more.

What is Nemesis?
Revisado: 04-23-17
First, Nemesis is written for a YA audience. I finished the book, although the teenaged (a 15-16 year old) cohort did not explore or even consider all possible means to determine if their circumstances were real, e.g. there was no means of escape. I was reminded of "Under the Dome" and "Lord of the Flies", but this novel does not come close to the writing exhibited in these novels. The basic premise is interesting, but even in terms of science fiction, Reichs doesn't quite pull it off. This is my first review and what finally drove me to write one is because if a writer wants to use a specific location for a novel, he/she should either visit it or learn something about it! I live in North Idaho not far from the Bitterroots. There would not be a class of 65 students. My sons graduated in classes of 27 and 23 and these were rather large. Remote Idaho busses children. The northern most distribution of Quercus (oaks) is the Willamette Valley in western Oregon. Min and Tack could not climb an oak tree. Reichs describes the region as alpine with Thuja (cedar). Cedar are not alpine species. I know this is a systemic problem for readers when place names and towns are mispronounced, but authors should do proper research. Okay. I've had my say. Thanks.

Historia
Private investigator Isabel Spellman is back on the case and back on the couch -- in court-ordered therapy after getting a little too close to her previous subject. Filled with the signature side-splitting Spellman antics, Revenge of the Spellmans is an ingenious, hilarious, and disarmingly tender installment in the Spellman series.

Sorry Ari Graynor, you ruined it for me!
Revisado: 01-15-13
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
If Christina Moore was reading, I'd have listened twice. Fortunately, I don't sit and listen to a book or I'd have wasted time. In fact, I wasn't able to finish.
Who was your favorite character and why?
I didn't get far enough into the book to know. I couldn't tolerate Ari Graynor's reading.
Would you be willing to try another one of Ari Graynor’s performances?
No, can't do it.
Was Revenge of the Spellmans worth the listening time?
See below....not with the reader.
Any additional comments?
What makes or breaks an audiobook is the reader, and Christina Moore is Izzy Spellman and the Spellman family. I apologise to Ari Graynor, but she brings no life to the Spellman family. This disappoints me, as I love the Spellman series and have little time for conventional reading due to work and farm life, and listen to audiobooks on my iPhone as I do various home and farm work, and when I'm driving. Ms. Graynor sounds like she is reading the books aloud to a class or child. I won't be able to complete the book, it is too painful; no exaggeration. I have not found a Lisa Lutz book I don't like, so I gave the book itself a good review. Please keep that in mind in my overall review.
