essential for small unit leaders
Revisado: 03-31-18
If you are a prospective soldier, Marine, sailor, or airman (enlisted or officer), this book is an essential read. It examines the realities of war, leadership, cooperation, and priorities. I'm sad I got the abridged version, as no doubt the rest of the book had useful tid-bits of information of help to developing leaders.

Historia
The US military is preparing to withdraw from Iraq, and newly minted lieutenant Jack Porter struggles to accept how it's happening - through alliances with warlords who have Arab and American blood on their hands. Day after day Jack tries to assert his leadership in the sweltering, dreary atmosphere of Ashuriyah. But his world is disrupted by the arrival of veteran sergeant Daniel Chambers, whose aggressive style threatens to undermine the fragile peace that the troops have worked hard to establish.

Historia
It Worked for Me is filled with vivid experiences and lessons learned that have shaped the legendary career of the four-star general and former Secretary of State Colin Powell. At its heart are Powell's "Thirteen Rules" - such as "Get mad, then get over it" and "Share credit" - that introduce his principles for effective leadership: conviction, hard work, and, above all, respect for others. A natural storyteller, Powell offers warm and engaging parables with wise advice on succeeding in the workplace and beyond.

inspirational for all aspiring leaders
Revisado: 07-17-16
general Powell distinguishes himself quite nicely in this memoir from the countless others churned out by many of Washington's finest. He offers the hands-on lessons, stories, and humbling moments one looks for when seeking the thoughts of someone such as Colin. Whether an ROTC cadet or a rising business leader, this book will offer some fine stories to chew on. highly recommended.
