Historia
How did Fidel Castro fool the CIA for a generation? Why did Neville Chamberlain think he could trust Adolf Hitler? Why are campus sexual assaults on the rise? Do television sitcoms teach us something about the way we relate to each other that isn't true? While tackling these questions, Malcolm Gladwell was not solely writing a book for the page. He was also producing for the ear. In the audiobook version of Talking to Strangers, you’ll hear the voices of people he interviewed - scientists, criminologists, military psychologists.

Interesting things to Ponder
Revisado: 01-14-24
The production of this audio book is top notch. I also really enjoyed the story and I was thinking through every moment.
My struggle with the book comes as I felt like there were plenty of warnings, but at least to me it felt like they weren't solutions. I really struggled how to handle my personal interactions with strangers, but that is potentially outside of Neil's scope. Regardless, I think this is a worthwhile and interesting read and the enhanced audio book effect is super cool. 😊

Historia
Defying both civil authorities and the Mormon establishment in Salt Lake City, the renegade leaders of these Taliban-like theocracies are zealots who answer only to God; some 40,000 people still practice polygamy in these communities. At the core of Krakauer’s book are brothers Ron and Dan Lafferty, who insist they received a commandment from God to kill a blameless woman and her baby girl. Beginning with a meticulously researched account of this appalling double murder, Krakauer constructs a bone-chilling narrative of messianic delusion, polygamy, savage violence, and unyielding faith.

Intense
Revisado: 04-27-22
A very emotional book and the reader, Scott Brick, nails it. I clung to the words. While the book sometimes painted a broad religious brush, I did enjoy thinking through the nature of faith and belief!

Historia
Jesus used things like a lily, sparrow, and sheep to teach about the kingdom of God. And in the Old Testament, God repeatedly describes himself and his saving work in relation to physical things such as a rock, horn, or eagle. In God of All Things, pastor and author Andrew Wilson invites you to rediscover God in this way, too - through ordinary, everyday things. He explores the idea of a material world and presents a variety of created marvels that reveal the gospel in everyday life and fuel worship and joy in God.
