I've been impressed by Encyclopocalypse Publications and their many eclectic releases on audio. I'd not been familiar with this offer and was pleasantly surprised by this book. The Indian lore within is type of thing that's fascinated me since I was a kid and it just seems to go perfectly with the supernatural story. It drags just a !little in a few slots but the characters somewhat make up for that. Overall, a good read.

David Neill Wilson brings us more adventures of the right Rev. Cletus Digs and he doesn't disappoint. A great quick read for a summer's day.

A new author for me

I've never read this author before and I wasn't used to his writing style. It was a bit too much of an artsy style for me. The plot is simple enough but it feels like the subtext is trying to be something it really isn't. Im all for literary type books but this isn't quite that. I also prefer the horror novels I read to be a little more horrific. It just feels like the author is going for that "elevated horror" nonsense that I think is pretentious. He's obviously talented, so just present things with a little more everyday charm.

I enjoyed the previous book and this one continued the story well. Jeff Strand is almost always fun to read, with lots of humor to go along with the horror. He writes like people actually talk and that's refreshing. There's no pretense just good story.

The columns about Television are great. Some of them do go too far afield, straying far from the topic of TV, but they're still interesting. There's plenty here to keep the reader invested. This books is great for those who are fed up with the basic drudgery of television and its all too often lowest common denominator programming. After reading this book you can be sure that it's nothing new either.

I really wanted to like Nick Cutters books as I'm always on the lookout for so!e thing new. I'm a big fan of horror and have read tons of it. This plot sounded great and I had heard some good things about Cuttter. While The Troop certainly isn't baf, it's no better than average. The story plods along and the characters are fairly stock. It seems as if he's doing his best Stephen King impression and only occasionally getting it right.

Radio comedy can be great, as was proven Manu decades ago by the likes of Jack Benny and Amos and Andy. Rigor Mortis is obviously much more up to date and modern but it carries in the traction of radio comedy. Peter Davison, who I discovered decades ago as the fifth Doctor Who, does a great job heading up a fine cast. The scripts are tight and always amusing, sometimes even hilarious. If you like radio shows give this one a try. The dry British sense of humor is always funny to me.

Another great East Texas tale from the master

Joe Lansdale writes in myriad genres and his stuff is always good. I've never been to the place he writes about most, Texas, yet his characters always ring true, as do his plots. More Better Deals is a short novel whose characters suck you right in and the story keeps moving yet never sacrifices quality characterization. The narration is good enough though not excellent. While I prefer Lansdale as horror stories, his more realistic fare like this is still great.

I've been reading Chuck Klosterman's stuff for many years now and he never disappoints. The Nineties is no different. It's the decade he was born to write about. Klosterman is a master of nuamce, taking fine points of culture and expounding on them. Sometimes I agree and so!stones his opinions are far afield from my own, but he's always interesting. I especially enjoy his writings on music. It's always gun to read his thoughts on two of my favorites; Billy Joel and KISS. If you're A Gen-X'er or just like reading about popular culture then pick this one up. It's wide ranging themes won't let you down.

I enjoy these books from the Mystery Writers of America. This book, along with Deadly Anniversaries, include some great authors. Almost all of the stories are worth reading with a few being exceptional. The Joe Lansdale and Joe Hill entries are standouts I'm When A Stranger Comes To Town. The narration is also mostly good with only one narrator being just too slow to enjoy. I'm looking forward to more books in this series.
