Most of the book was about how alcohol is poison and gives a false sense of inhibition. The obvious. The answer, according to the officer, is just quit drinking. Huh??? Why didn’t I think of that? (Sarcasm) I much preferred Quit Like a Woman, which gave a lot of the same info but in a more relatable way, and also more helpful tips on how to manage cravings, etc.

Great storyteller

If you want some easy listening, get this book. Honestly, I've never been a big fan of Matthew McConaughey as an actor because he came off as one dimensional, but now that I've read his book I think that I was mainly looking at his work in romantic comedies when I made that judgement. I do, however, love his voice, and that was my number one reason for buying this audio book. He did not disappoint. His delivery was dramatic, and very Texan, and I loved every minute of it. The content was not extremely stellar, but I wasn't expecting too much. Not because I have a low opinion of his intellect (I've seen enough inteviews to know that he has a way with words and a story to be told). Rather, I was more interested in hearing him speak than I was in listening to what he had to say. There were some good nuggets of life lessons, and the stories were colorful (if not altogether believable), so I can comfortably give the story 5 stars. It was entertaining and I listened to the whole thing in one day. Enjoy!

This book is full of personal anecdotes. it tells a lot about the magical powers of the brain such as clairvoyance, telepathy, spirituality, and the mystery of coincidence. in the end, the book raises a lot of questions and makes you appreciate the power of our brains. i didnt leqrn anything new and i did not find this book motivational in any way. if you wantto feel motivated and inspired try The Power of Positive Thinking" instead.

I listen to this at least once per week. There are a lot of great i"food for thoughr" deas, but they must be ingested over time.

Uninspired

As a writer, I was looking for a little inspiration. I picked the wrong book. I should have heeded the other reviews when they said that the performance was off putting. It isn't so much that her voice is monotone, but that it has a depressed downbeat. I could have gotten past her voice if the content was more inspiring. However, halfway into the book she is still describing writing as a tortured process of wringing the words out of her head and then having to rewrite it all again because (in her lovely words) the whole first draft is always going to be s--t. I know that writing can be hard, but I also know that it can be enjoyable. Where can I find a book about the joy of writing? Not here.

I would give this a negative number if I could.

This was such a huge disappointment. First of all it's only 5 minutes. All of those 5 minutes are used up by reading aloud the table of contents and captions to pictures that you obviously cannot see. In addition, this is a children's book, so the captions are about 5 words in length. I received no useful information whatsoever, and I am highly disappointed that I used one of my credits for this book.
