This book made me angry at every turn
because nothing makes any sense. The action is incredibly overdramatic.

Historia
When summoned to a fantastical world and granted powers by a broken System, most freshly minted protagonists would strap on their big-boy boots and get ready for their stats to start climbing. But Fischer isn't like most MCs. In fact, he doesn't want to be a hero at all. Fame? Fortune? Power? He had enough of all that in his old life. Discovering forbidden fishing techniques and petting every cute animal that comes within scritching distance? Now that's a good time.

The story is silly, whimsical, inspirational, heartfelt, and fun. It's like drinking a frosty beverage on a warm summer's day with your feet in the Sun.

so much melodrama
Revisado: 06-24-24
I enjoy The slice of Life portions of the story which is why I continue listening but anytime the story builds up to some Grand climax it gets insufferable. It's completely predictable that first several to 50 attempts to solve any issue are doomed to failure. It completely removes any suspense there might be in the scene when you know for a fact the characters can't succeed. I feel like I'm watching my least favorite type of anime listening to these stories. And now the characters will find another way to cleverly and with great resolve accessing 105% of their full power make a true and glorious stand that is inevitably pointless. I also wish it didn't feel like the author took such relish and pleasure in slaughtering innocent people just to prove a point. I know I'm likely in the minority wanting the story to be more happy. Seems like everyone else loves a good bloodbath but that's how I feel, take it or leave it.

Historia
All the world's a stage...even when you're teleported to a new world. Struggling actress Cara O'Sullivan was walking down the street of Galway one moment, and the next, she was in an ancient tomb in a faraway world. Alone in the dark with her cell phone as her last tenuous connection to home, Cara sings her favorite song. To her astonishment, her song casts a spell of light into the world...and from the depths, something hears her. Challenged by a ghostly knight, a tragic necromancer, and hordes of undead, can a young woman who does not believe in heroes become one herself?

Historia
Jin Rou wanted to be a cultivator. A man powerful enough to defy the heavens. A master of martial arts. A lord of spiritual power. Unfortunately for him, he died, and now I’m stuck in his body. Arrogant Masters? Heavenly Tribulations? All that violence and bloodshed? Yeah, no thanks. I’m getting out of here. Farm life sounds pretty great. Tilling a field by hand is fun when you’ve got the strength of ten men—though maybe I shouldn’t have fed those Spirit Herbs to my pet rooster.

my favorite slice of Life story by far
Revisado: 02-08-24
it is very rare to read a story that just makes you happy. I love how the author subverts expectations at every turn. I constantly found myself chuckling and laughing at the way is conflict was resolved. the story is a true breath of fresh air.

I have never been more angry in my life at an author.
Revisado: 12-11-23
The sadistic butchery and squandering of character potential in this story made me furious. After spending so much time watching characters develop it's heartbreaking, not to see them die, but to see them die in the overwritten predictable scenes that make no effing sense. If a story rings true and the characters decisions make sense I can excuse some heartache and loss but to just wantonly butcher your cast to take your story to some preconceived destination that makes no sense within the constructs and characters that have been created is heartbreaking. I wish the author would stop writing action scenes which just come off as the worst kind of anime and stick to traveling with interesting characters.

Historia
The galaxy is doomed. Monkeys may be clever and too stubborn to give up, but Skippy The Idiot Who Got Played knows the harsh truth: this is a fight he can’t win. The odds are not only stacked against him, he was designed not to win this fight. Maybe he can salvage some faint memory of the civilizations that inhabit the galaxy, but those beings are doomed. Doomed. Including the Merry Band of Pirates.

Terrible ending after so much buildup
Revisado: 12-13-22
The book was 99% depression and fatalism with no satisfactory conclusion. All the stories before this one felt like they got better in some way. The characters learn from their mistakes and improved, even the writing seemed better. This book just seemed much lower in quality. After creating such an amazing cast of characters the final book doesn't even give them a chance to shine. I wish I'd never read it and made up my own ending for the story.

This book was a true joy to listen to.
Revisado: 09-01-22
This is my favorite audible original to date. The acting was fantastic and the writing was truly unique and hilarious. It's amazing how the story allowed me to be nostalgic about an era of radio storytelling that I never personally witnessed. Everything down to the commercials felt so realistic and yet irreverently funny at the same time.
