Historia
In this groundbreaking treatise, Palantir co-founder and CEO Alexander C. Karp and Nicholas W. Zamiska offer a searing critique of our collective abandonment of ambition, arguing that in order for the U.S. and its allies to retain their global edge—and preserve the freedoms we take for granted—the software industry must renew its commitment to addressing our most urgent challenges, including the new arms race of artificial intelligence. The government, in turn, must embrace the most effective features of the engineering mindset that has propelled Silicon Valley’s success.

Highly recommend story both for the intricate threads and excellent trade craft that bring the characters to life as if you were in the places described in the book. I sincerely hope #3 is with the editors and producers. Very well done 'Jack'

This story takes you behind the curtain of the special services of France in the same way The Bureau des Legendes did on TV. The operational detail and intricate plot made this hard to put down between chapters. I have already pre-ordered the 2nd installment. We'll done Aguilar.

The author has created an excellent read for readers ( or listeners) on par with LeCarre. This caper runs along familiar lines of recent events to give the listener a flavor of reality while spinning fiction. Well done.

With so little to recommend it, why in March 2004 was Equatorial Guinea the target of a group of salty British, South African, and Zimbabwean mercenaries, traveling on an American-registered ex-National Guard plane specially adapted for military purposes that was originally flown to Africa by American pilots?

Historia
New York Times best-selling author and Pulitzer Prize finalist Arthur Herman pens this fascinating look at how two businessmen turned the U.S. into a military powerhouse during World War II. In 1940, FDR asked General Motors CEO William Knudsen to oversee the production of guns, tanks, and planes needed for the war. Meanwhile, industrialist Henry J. Kaiser presided over the building of “Liberty ships” - vessels that came to symbolize America’s great wartime output.

For all of our faults (and there are many) this story highlights how Americans can and do come together as a people to overcome great challenges facing our country. I am glad to have listened to this presentation, it offers us hope for these equally challenging times.

Historia
Its code name was “Operation Gold”, a wildly audacious CIA plan to construct a clandestine tunnel into East Berlin to tap into critical KGB and Soviet military telecommunication lines. The tunnel, crossing the border between the American and Soviet sectors, would have to be 1,500 feet (the length of the Empire State Building) with state-of-the-art equipment, built and operated literally under the feet of their Cold War adversaries.

Essential Cold War History
Revisado: 11-26-24
I found this story interesting in two respects. The first is the technical story behind the Berlin Tunnel and the far reaching implications it had during the cold war. The second part, equally fascinating was the story of how gullible pepole can be with the failed ideology of communism when you get to see it in practice. This was a well researched book and performance.

Historia
George Smiley has left the Circus. With the wreckage of the West’s spy war against the Soviets strewn across Europe, he has eyes only for a more peaceful life. And indeed, with his marriage more secure than ever, there is a rumor that George Smiley might almost be happy. But Control has other plans. A Russian agent has defected in the most unusual of circumstances, and the man he was sent to kill in London is nowhere to be found. Smiley reluctantly agrees to one last simple task: interview Szusanna, a Hungarian émigré and employee of the missing man, and sniff out a lead.

They say that the apple does not fall from the tree. Such is the case with the the return of George Smiley in this novel. It has all of the twists and turns and every bit as good as the original work of Le Carre'. If you were ever a fan of the original series, this is a great audio book.

Very Disappointing
Revisado: 11-05-24
I expected a better story from someone with the background of the author. I had trouble getting through this while I was hoping something later in the book would rescue the time given to complete listening to it. Several times I found myself thinking this was a Harlequin Romance rather than a novel about intelligence. If you are considering giving this a listen, you have been duly warned. Sorry
