Twenty-two years in the FBI, 16 of them as a member of the Bureau's Behavioral Science Unit. Roy Hazelwood, like many investigators, has seen it all. Michaud takes you into the heart of Hazelwood's work through dozens of startling cases, including those of the Lonely Heart Killer, the "Ken and Barbie" killings, and the Atlanta Child Murders.

Well Done
Revisado: 09-27-22
I never knew the full story behind the sniper attacks. My only focus at the time was the family members I had living in the area. The layout of this story was so well done, similar to a documentary. First hand accounts are included. It never got dull or long winded. Every moment was gripping, from all the different perspectives.

Interesting
Revisado: 06-13-22
The book goes down some well known scary movies and compares them to their real counterpart. I'm sure this information can be found online but it was entertaining to have it all provided in one place. I learned some new things. I would listen to another by this author.

This is a slow build. Might be longer than it needs to be. But other than that it was very entertaining. A little predictable in some parts but worth the listen for a relaxing read.

Historia
Known throughout Tennessee as "Old Kate", the Bell Witch took up residence with John Bell's family in 1818. It was a cruel and noisy spirit, given to knocking and gnawing sounds before finding its own voices. With these voices and supernatural acts, the Bell Witch tormented the Bell family. The extraordinary tale recounts the only documented case in U.S. History when a spirit "actually caused a man's death".

I enjoyed this book. The writing can be a little wordy at times but I believe it does a good job of painting a picture and placing you in the story. And the ending is not what I expected.

Very entertaining
Revisado: 10-12-21
I've never invested much time in comic book characters and I think that contributed to why I was a little lost at the beginning of the book. But once I understood the performance and looked into the characters a bit more it became addicting. The transition between scenes and flashbacks was clear. The writing was vivid and the actors and actresses did an amazing job.

Historia
Six years after four family members died of arsenic poisoning, the three remaining Blackwoods—elder, agoraphobic sister Constance; wheelchair-bound Uncle Julian; and 18-year-old Mary Katherine, or, Merricat—live together in pleasant isolation. But one day a stranger arrives—cousin Charles, with his eye on the Blackwood fortune.

Slightly Depressing

*Possible Spoilers*
I want to do this review justice. The narrator did an excellent job at conveying all the different characters. It was an easy story to get into but it felt like the plot didn't go anywhere. Two sisters and their uncle are complete shut-ins from their town due to a previous scandal. A long lost cousin shows up and begins taking items belonging to their deceased father. Said cousin also starts a fire in order to get help getting to the family safe. The townspeople show up and start destroying things. The uncle dies and the sisters are left alone in a house that probably should be demolished. To pacify their guilt, those involved in destroying family heirlooms leave baskets of food on the doorstep. The cousin makes one last appearance in an attempt to get photos to sell to a magazine.
I'm not sure if this town is full of the worst people ever or if this is the most unstable, spineless family. I gather that the sisters are tight and have their own issues but I really wanted them to do more in the story. Now I'm left to assume they die quietly in an old, mostly burned down house, overgrown with vines, clothed in tablecloths or old curtains, living on food baskets supplied by their assailants or the parents of the children that run around their property. The end...

Historia
Do you know what lies behind every door? There are certain buildings which can be unsettling, disturbing, and downright terrifying. Even in seemingly normal homes, the strange and mysterious can help to create a sense of unease and ill-feeling. But there are certain buildings which scream strangeness from every surface. A coldness, an eerie atmosphere, or even the half caught sight of something moving in the corner of your vision. Some homes breathe paranormal activity and can leave you scared before you've even stepped over the threshold.

Amazing Lack of Editing
Revisado: 08-02-21
I really wanted to give this book 5 starts. I enjoy the brief overview of all these locations. When chapter 9 started, there were several repeats. I figured out that this was an editing oversight which is totally understandable. However, the narrator clearly states that he's not sure he can go through with this anymore. He slurs some words which gives the sense that he may be drinking on the job. Again, completely understandable. But when his cell phone goes off in the background I was no longer able to keep focused. A book about spooky haunted locations turned into a comedy for me.

Revisado: 06-16-21
I went into this book looking for a quick read. This actually ended up being a well written and interesting account of angels and demons as believed by multiple cultures. The author represented many groups of people and yet tied their beliefs to one another which was fascinating. I look forward to experiencing more of his work.

Historia
I had a plan to escape the friend zone. Step one: sneak into Reed’s room. Step two: sleep with him. But when the lights turned on, it wasn’t familiar blue eyes I saw. These were dark, angry, and full of demons. And they belonged to Reed’s much-older brother. Four years later, Nash Prescott is no longer the help’s angry son. I’m no longer the town’s prized princess. At 22, I’m broke, in need of a job. At 32, he’s a billionaire, in need of revenge.
