Well-known cookery writer Damien Trench is famous for his book A Year in the Kitchen, a diary of everything he cooked and ate over the course of 12 months. But is Damien’s life as idyllic as his listeners might suppose?

Historia
Even though Agatha Raisin loathes amateur dramatics, her friend Mrs. Bloxby, the vicar's wife, has persuaded her to support the local pantomime. Stifling a yawn at the production of Babes in the Woods, Agatha watches as the baker, playing an ogre, struts and threatens on the stage. Then a trapdoor opens… followed by a scream and then silence. Surely, this isn't the way the scene was rehearsed?

Terrible Narration
Revisado: 12-25-16
What did you like best about The Blood of an Englishman? What did you like least?
I couldn't get to anything I liked because of the terrible narration.
What was most disappointing about M. C. Beaton’s story?
I am sure the story was fine but the narration was wooden and awful.
How did the narrator detract from the book?
The concentration required to follow was awful.
If this book were a movie would you go see it?
I don't know.
Any additional comments?
None. A waste of money.

Historia
It is not long before the survivors, outlaws, renegades, and carrion eaters start to gather, picking over the bones of the dead and fighting for the spoils of the soon-to-be dead. Now in the Seven Kingdoms, as the human crows assemble over a banquet of ashes, daring new plots and dangerous new alliances are formed, while surprising faces, some familiar, others only just appearing, are seen emerging from an ominous twilight of past struggles and chaos to take up the challenges ahead.

Bad Narration
Revisado: 07-13-06
I have to agree with previous reviewers here. I thoroughly enjoyed Roy Dotrice's narration with the previous books. The wit that he brought to Tyrion's and other characters was a joy to listen to. I was incredibly disappointed with John Lee not only was the pronunciation of names different but also it was such a strain to listen to. I don't know if other listeners noticed, but he appears to put emphasis on the wrong words in a phrase or sentence and once I began to be aware of this it just became more infuriating thus diminishing, for me, the story itself.
I do hope that Roy Dotrice will narrate the next book he certainly is a hard act to follow.

A Great Listen

This was a wonderful reading of my favourite childhood book. It was a pleasure to travel back to Narnia again! My Children were also enthralled by the story it is an excellent introduction before going to the new movie!
