This was a good story up until the horrible ending

I am not a big fan of stories that bounce around the timelines so much, but this was a well written story and it didn't bother me as much. The twists and turns were done well and I enjoyed listening to this book, until the "cliffhanger" ending that is. I can accept any conclusion to a book as the story is what the story is, but to not have a conclusion at all and leave us with a cliffhanger ending just seems like a sad attempt to make us buy the next book.

Overall, this was a good listen that I enjoyed. I did feel there were parts of the story that dragged a bit, especially when you know what is coming but the author takes his time getting there. The narration could be better but it was still a good listen while on my recent road trip and helped pass the time while driving.

"The Outsider" was a good, interesting listen although it often reminded me of "The Dark Half". I liked that King tied it in with the Bill Hodges Trilogy, but Will Patton as narrator just wasn't as good in this book. In the end, I thought it was a good listen and enjoyed the story.

This is a great lead in to the Avenger's Infinity War giving Thanos a lot of depth. "Thanos" gives you the background to understand the Titan. At some points, you almost feel sorry for the guy. The narrator does an excellent job.

"One Door Away From Heaven" is an excellent book. It has an interesting plot and engaging characters that give this book the "can't stop listening" feeling. The narrator was very good and easy to listen to.

"Strangers"has some great character development in classic Dean Koontz style. Unfortunately, it also drags a bit. With a great narrator, the dragging on can seem not so bad, but with this narrator, it made it worse. Overall, the story is excellent and the book is definitely worth the listen.

"Then She Was Gone" is pretty predictable and anti-climatic, but a good listen anyways. There is no real mystery involved here just a kind of dark, somber story of what happened. The narrator was excellent making it easy to listen to.

Great lead in to A New Hope

This story was well written and makes for a great lead in. Admittedly, I did not like Jyn Erso early in the story but her growth throughout the book had me loving her by the end. I liked Imwe and Baze and thought K2SO was great. I guess the character I just never learned to like was Cassian Andor. He is part of this new "Kind of" good guy thing that seems to be happening throughout the Star Wars stories.

The end of the story was very well written and brought out the reality of Rogue One's fate. Without a doubt it made for an action packed, realistic ending to such a story. I have not seen the movie yet, but definitely look forward to seeing it now. I always prefer to read the book first.

As usual, Jonathan Davis did an excellent job narrating. I never worry about annoying voices or bad reading when I see Jonathan Davis listed as a narrator.

This is a good conspiracy novel with a little unrealistic romance thrown in, but we knew it was going to happen. The story wasn't overly complicated and was predictable in many parts, but it was fun to listen to. The performance by Ellen Archer was excellent. There are a few annoying things about the characters such as the insecurities of the heroine that make a grown woman sound like she is 13 and the naivete of Daniel that is unrealistic for any grown man. The story gets better as it goes along and overall was definitely worth listening to and quite entertaining.

A Good Backstory for Thrawn

Thrawn has been my favorite character since I first read "Heir to the Empire". I was excited to get this book and did enjoy listening to it. It's definitely not as exciting as other books and listening to him analyze body language got old after a while. But this book isn't just about Thrawn's rise in the Empire, it also had to do with Ahrinda Pryce's rise which I thought was well written. I definitely recommend this, especially if you are a fan of Thrawn, just don't expect the excitement of the earlier Thrawn trilogy.
