Historia
Ian Dunross, the current tai-pan of the illustrious yet financially troubled Struan empire, is racing to undo the damage his predecessor left behind and to once again stand on stable ground. And he’ll do whatever it takes—including striking a hard-fought deal with an American millionaire. But his rival, Quillan Gornt, has other plans. Suddenly caught in a dubious plot involving Soviet spies, Hong Kong’s criminal underground, and the hostile takeover of his company, Dunross holds nothing back in the fight for the Noble House.

Brilliant
Revisado: 04-05-22
The story is incredibly rich.
True or not it gives you insight into the world of spying, high stakes deals, cool and calculated minds and Asian wisdom.
Performance is awesome as well. The actor has a firm grasp of many voices and you know who's talking even before the text hints.

The Rockhopper is nearing the end of its current mission cycle, and everyone is desperate for some much-needed R & R, when startling news arrives from Saturn: Janus, one of Saturn's ice moons, has inexplicably left its natural orbit and is now heading out of the solar system at high speed.

Meh
Revisado: 01-04-22
Prolog really put me off. It was corny.
The narrator, while having a very nice voice, has a very matter of fact way of narrating. It was hard to stay immersed. Sometimes it felt like he was reading a grocery list.
As for the story, often new plots were spun only to be abandoned and picked up way later when you already forgot about them.
Not all loose ends are tied at the end. A lot of questions are left unanswered.
Secondary characters are meaningless. They are one sided and cause no sway on the main characters, which are indeed complex, but they don't seem to evolve.

so much bloat
Revisado: 12-17-21
Just the same as the rest of them.
Great story overall, but in each book there was always so much bloat.
I didn't care about Kit, nor about the forced character development through action that has nothing to do with the story.
Performance was pretty bad too. The reader has 3 voices tops and more often then not I'm struggling to figure out which character is talking.
Good ending to a very good core story.

Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

Could not put it down
Revisado: 10-20-21
Only work and the low battery prevented me from continuously listening to it.
It just grips you. The way it is written just makes you want to know what comes next.
Yes, it's over the top sometimes, but it pleasantly surprises you at all times.
There are also speckled humorous moments that make you laugh out loud.
Definitely would recommend.
I never read the Martian, but liked the movie. I liked this one better.
And is sooo much better than Artemis.

Historia
Jazz Bashara is a criminal. Well, sort of. Life on Artemis, the first and only city on the moon, is tough if you're not a rich tourist or an eccentric billionaire. So smuggling in the occasional harmless bit of contraband barely counts, right? Not when you've got debts to pay and your job as a porter barely covers the rent. Everything changes when Jazz sees the chance to commit the perfect crime, with a reward too lucrative to turn down.

Exposition exposition exposition
Revisado: 06-06-20
And even more exposition. The author feels the need to explain everything, even the obvious.
This is particularly bothersome when you feel you're in the midst of action and you get a pause for some explanation. The second part of the book has less of this, probably due to the more scifi aspect.
Voice acting is pretty bad in the first part.
Overall story was nice.

Compared to other books I've listened to this was just amazing. It had multiple actors each reading their own character lines, ambient music, pauses for suspense. It was my best listen.

Take the author's word and don't buy
Revisado: 06-19-19
I love the kingkiller chronicles series and I was OK not having Kvothe in this book and instead gain some insight into Ari and the underthing. But the book does not deliver. Whatever else about the underthing that is not in the other two books can be summed in about 2 pages.
All the insight about Ari is about 3 pages.
You also learn about alchemy, like spit on a substance to make it glass or drop some other substance on some solid to make it glow and that's about it.
There is a very nice surprise at the end, about a paragraph long which I'll not spoil, but that sums up the entire book to just 5 pages and a paragraph. Totally not worth it.
Rogues, just for the Lightning Tree, is way better than this.
