Maudie wants to confide in her dad about her stepdad's anger, but she’s scared. When a wildfire strikes, Maudie and her dad are forced to evacuate to the beach town where he grew up. It’s another turbulent wave of change. But now, every morning, from their camper, Maudie can see surfers bobbing in the water. She desperately wants to learn, but could she ever be brave enough?

Magnificent depiction of a young teen autistic.
Revisado: 11-15-23
If you are close to autism like I am, the parent of an autistic, be ready for an atmospheric river of tears, of both sadness and joy.
The writing is excellent and the audio narration a tour de force. (distinct character voices, matched the age of protagonist, emotional expressiveness off the charts!) I couldn't put this book down (turn it off). Sally Pla, the author had me hooked so deeply rooting for young Maudie to make it through her awful family circumstances. The father/daughter relationship was exquisitely depicted as well as the harrowing mother and stepfather antagonists. Truly a Hero's Journey--Maudie's empowerment through surfing with her champion Mentor! A lot to learn about autism in this story as the author takes us deeply inside the mind, body, and spirit of Maudie. By the end you will be part of the small surfing community that embraces, supports, and is deeply touched by this extraordinary autistic and her loving Dad.

Historia
Eva Walker is a 17-year-old math genius. And if that doesn't do wonders for her popularity, there's another thing that makes it even worse: When she touches another person or anything that belongs to them - from clothes to textbooks to cell phones - she sees a vision of their emotions. She can read a person's fears and anxieties, their secrets and loves...and what they have yet to learn about calculus. This is helpful for her work as a math tutor, but it means she can never get close to people. Eva avoids touching anyone and everyone.

Unique High School Romance Hooks You
Revisado: 10-23-23
I discovered Zenn Diagram after googling novels and math. I'm looking for comparables to my own novel,
Alexandra's A-Game, about a nonspeaking, age 14, autistic math whiz. I'm a high school math and special ed teacher and father of a nonspeaking autistic son, age 22. Eva's superpower was an imaginative leap and I could relate to Zenn because my mom was alcoholic. I admit the audio voice was grating at first and the Christian family not my thing, but the magic and intrigue of Eva's psychic ability, the chemistry of Eva and Zenn, and the clever plot twists kept me listening. I'm not a romance genre reader but I got hooked on this romance due to the uniqueness of the character's personalities and their chemistry.

Historia
The world outside has grown toxic, the view of it limited, talk of it forbidden. The remnants of humanity live underground in a single silo. But there are always those who hope, who dream. These are the dangerous people, the residents who infect others with their optimism. Their punishment is simple. They are given the very thing they want: They are allowed to go outside.

Historia
Meet Ginny Moon. She's mostly your average teenager - she plays flute in the high school band, has weekly basketball practice, and reads Robert Frost poems in English class. But Ginny is autistic. And so what's important to her might seem a bit...different: starting every day with exactly nine grapes for breakfast, Michael Jackson, her baby doll, and crafting a secret plan of escape.

Superb depiction of a young autistic
Revisado: 09-16-22
I am the parent of an autistic and a special education teacher. I have also written a novel with autistic characters. Ginny Moon is one of the best and most unique autistic characters I have come across. The plot was intensely gripping, the irony and black humor superb!

Historia
Frost's third book of poetry, North of Boston, is an extraordinary set of poems that are nearly dramas, conversations drawn from the heat of life, love, and death. From "Home Burial" and "Death of the Hired Man" to "A Hundred Collars" and "The Generations of Man", Frost's work in this volume spans the whole range of human experience, expressed always in his characteristic dry, matter-of-fact, yet wonderfully musical verse.
