Historia
Have you ever looked around and wondered, “Why has everyone found love except me?” You’re not the only one. Great relationships don’t just appear in our lives - they’re the culmination of a series of decisions, including whom to date, how to end it with the wrong person, and when to commit to the right one. But our brains often get in the way. We make poor decisions, which thwart us on our quest to find lasting love.

Very little useful advice for dudes
Revisado: 06-13-24
This title is giving advice to women. 3-10 women have hundreds of matches on dating apps. Men 0-7 typically have zero real matches. This is all about getting women to be more rational about sorting through their dating choices. It’s an ode to behavioral econ literature. IMHO Hinge who the author advises has the most delusional women who only date dudes way above their level. It’s actually the opposite of an app that leads women to relationships instead of situationships.

Wonderful sequel to Dune. I did not realize the series went on after the 1st book. Great production values for the audiobook.

Historia
Most books about the history of humanity pursue either a historical or a biological approach, but Dr. Yuval Noah Harari breaks the mold with this highly original book. From examining the role evolving humans have played in the global ecosystem to charting the rise of empires, Sapiens integrates history and science to reconsider accepted narratives, connect past developments with contemporary concerns, and examine specific events within the context of larger ideas.

This is one of the best nonfiction audiobooks ever. It will blow your mind. I thought it would be about ancient anthropology. It is so much more touching on so many fields of study.

Hurt my knee with their ill advised side box steps. The book is mostly about skiiing. The presentation is spastic and really focused on how great the authors are.

Historia
Patrick Dixon spent years working as a doctor at University College Hospital, while his wife, Sheila, was a magistrate - high-pressure careers that demanded long hours away from their home, family and passion for sailing. It is a frustrating story many occasional sailors can relate to, but unlike most, Patrick and Sheila realised early enough that they could only bend so far before something snapped; they could only take on so much before they drowned.

No seamanship
Revisado: 07-28-22
They show exceptionally bad judgement entering new harbors at night. Neither husband or wife takes responsibility for passage planning. They are confused about the difference between helming and being captain. They anchor of lee shores. This is some of the worst seamanship I have heard in any narrative. The will sink their boat.

I did not really enjoy the author’s attempts to be cute. I did not like her no training bragging. I also was shocked by her decision not to descend with her son. It gave me a lot of respect for the guiding company. I was disappointed by her entitled, cavalier attitude to climbing such a high mountain. I guess it shows total cardio weaklings can climb Kilimanjaro with a good guiding company, which squares with what I observed from another KIli vet on Ranier.

Historia
In this irreverent and illuminating audiobook, acclaimed writer and scientist Leonard Mlodinow shows us how randomness, chance, and probability reveal a tremendous amount about our daily lives, and how we misunderstand the significance of everything from a casual conversation to a major financial setback. As a result, successes and failures in life are often attributed to clear and obvious causes, when in actuality they are more profoundly influenced by chance.

A Fun History of Probability
Revisado: 11-02-08
This book takes the reader through the history of probability theory from the ancient Greeks to the present day. Along the way it points out how very educated modern men and women are often baffled by basic concepts in probability.
The narrative is spiced up by short probability puzzles relevant to the concepts being discovered by innovators in probability theory as the book moves closer to the modern day. It succeeds brilliantly in teaching mathematical concepts in an audio only format. Nevertheless, the interested listener may want to occasionally pause the narrative to solve the puzzles presented on her own.
