Historia
Few journalists working today have covered Donald Trump more extensively than Maggie Haberman. And few understand him and his motivations better. Now, demonstrating her majestic command of this story, Haberman reveals in full the depth of her understanding of the 45th president himself, and of what the Trump phenomenon means.

Nothing new here. It's the same thing you've heard probably a 100 times before just repackaged by a different author.

Historia
In a scrap heap within an abandoned factory, the greatest invention in history lies dormant and unused. By what fatal error of judgment has its value gone unrecognized, its brilliant inventor punished rather than rewarded for his efforts? In defense of those greatest of human qualities that have made civilization possible, one man sets out to show what would happen to the world if all the heroes of innovation and industry went on strike.

A bit dated.
Revisado: 03-17-22
Firstly, Scott Brick is my hero. What an amazing job reading even in the most ardious and nonsensable parts of the story.
Secondly, the modern tech titans show us what we get when they are given free reign. Would many really want Elon or Peter or Donald or Mark running the country? Absolute power corrupts absolutely.
Thirdly, she needed to find an alternative word to 'chuckle'. it is overused to the point of annoyance. Someone should have given her a thesaurus.
Lastly, society has moved on on the viewing of women and, sadly, this book is fixed in ancient 'Father Knows Best Times' with only a hint at the future liberations to come.

Historia
Seldom does a book have the impact of Michelle Alexander’s The New Jim Crow. Since it was first published in 2010, it has been cited in judicial decisions and has been adopted in campus-wide and community-wide reads; it helped inspire the creation of the Marshall Project and the new $100 million Art for Justice Fund; it has been the winner of numerous prizes, including the prestigious NAACP Image Award; and it has spent nearly 250 weeks on the New York Times best seller list.

An important work with a terrible reader
Revisado: 07-22-21
This book was a struggle to finish not because of the subect matter, the writing style, or the complexity and depth of the material. Rather it was a struggle because the reader has no concept of reading punctuation or tonal norms one uses to complete sentances.
If i had to do this again, I would buy and read this book and not subject myself to such a poor reading performance.

Historia
The Age of Surveillance Capitalism is neither a hand-wringing narrative of danger and decline nor a digital fairy tale. Rather, it offers a deeply reasoned and evocative examination of the contests over the next chapter of capitalism that will decide the meaning of information civilization in the 21st century. The stark issue at hand is whether we will be the masters of information and machines or its slaves.

This is an incredibly important book.
Revisado: 06-12-21
It is hard to read both because it paints such a bleak present and a potentially bleak future as well as being somewhat technical in nature.
It is up to us to shape the future and this book is a good step to understanding how to do it.

it is lyrically written, packed with beautiful philosophical concepts all intertwined with wonderful personal stories.
However, Not every author should feel compelled to read their own work. Chanel Miller did a beautiful job with KNOW MY NAME. Hope Jahren also did a magnificent job reading LAB GIRL. Unfortunately, this book would have benefited greatly by having a professional reader.

Historia
Derek Black grew up at the epicenter of white nationalism. His father founded Stormfront, the largest racist community on the Internet. His godfather, David Duke, was a KKK Grand Wizard. By the time Derek turned 19, he had become an elected politician with his own daily radio show - already regarded as the "the leading light" of the burgeoning white nationalist movement. "We can infiltrate," Derek once told a crowd of white nationalists. "We can take the country back." Then he went to college.

By telling memorable stories and extracting the relevant lessons, he offers a strategy for dealing with these risks. You may not be able to prevent identity theft, but you certainly shouldn't wait until it happens to take action. Levin's approach is defined by the three M's: minimizing risk, monitoring your identity, and managing the damage.

It will help you in terms of being more transparent and more obviously honest and by assuring those who rely on you and work with you that you have their best interests at heart.

Critical reading for all citizens of democracies
Revisado: 09-23-18
It is said that history does not repeat itself but that it often rhymes. In these dark days in America and other countries across the globe, one learns that the expedience of a totalitarian regime is not worth the dangers.
This book provides the ultimate road map as to how a charismatic leader is able to derail the institutions of government. Things happen more quickly than the average citizen can perceive. It is up to all of us in the modern era to learn from the examples precisely displayed in this work.

In this revelatory narrative covering the years 1967 to 2017, Steven Brill gives us a stunningly cogent picture of the broken system at the heart of our society. He shows us how, over the last half-century, America's core values - meritocracy, innovation, due process, free speech, and even democracy itself - have somehow managed to power its decline into dysfunction.
