Historia
The star of truTV’s hit show Impractical Jokers - alongside veteran sci-fi and horror writer Darren Wearmouth - delivers a chilling and wickedly fun supernatural novel in the vein of The Strain, in which a beautiful new subway line in New York City unearths an ancient dark horror that threatens the city’s utter destruction and the balance of civilization itself.

The Best I Can Say Is Meh
Revisado: 10-11-18
This is one of those audiobooks you can walk away from to finish the laundry and not miss much... Formulaic “creature from the deep” adventure complete with monster-napped pregnant women and a shady secret organization in the background. Meh...

Historia
In 1986, Eddie and his friends are on the verge of adolescence, spending their days biking in search of adventure. The chalk men are their secret code, stick figures they draw for one another as hidden messages. But one morning, the friends find a chalk man leading them to the woods. They follow the message, only to find the dead body of a teenage girl. In 2016, Eddie is nursing a drinking problem and trying to forget his past, until one day he gets a letter containing a chalk man — the same one he and his friends saw when they found the body.

Great Story but Profoundly Depressing
Revisado: 09-25-18
Given that no one in the story is actually having a good life, I cannot recommend the book to anyone even mildly depressed. After several days of this novel, I am scheduling a massage and avoiding alcohol. De-press-ing but brilliant.

I love love love Dean Koontz, but...
Revisado: 06-24-17
...this was sorely lacking. It can't be easy to churn out novels at the rate we require as readers. I get that. Just don't expect his usual level of awesome. The reader is dullllllllllllll. I kept thinking that she needed a nap. Still love Koontz. Just wait for the next one.

In John Scalzi's re-imagining of H. Hundreds of miles from ZaraCorps headquarters on planet, 178 light-years from the corporations headquarters on Earth, Jack is content as an independent contractor, prospecting and surveying at his own pace. As for his past, thats not up for discussion.

Meanwhile, LAPD K-9 Officer Scott James and his patrol dog, Maggie, track a fugitive to a house filled with explosives - and a dead body. Historia
Civilization is on the brink of crumbling - and this time not just due to the zombie apocalypse. The roads have become dangerous, and what havens have been established are no longer safe. Murmurs of unrest - or maybe even a brewing civil war - are getting loud. No longer are zombies the only thing preying on those that think to brave the world outside the settlements. Yet as grave as things are getting, this is not the main issue that is plaguing Nate's mind. He has bigger fish to fry.

Why the Shock Value Escalation?
Revisado: 08-22-16
Why do authors feel that each novel needs successively greater shock value? Rape scenes and torture replaced good writing in this one. Boo.

Intriguing & Ultimately Dissatisfying
Revisado: 07-01-16
Luke Daniels is brilliant as always. The novel is disjointed but eventually comes together. You will find the usual issues with women's roles in a novel written in the '60's. It was the end that I found lackluster. Just meh.....
