It was okay

I think it’s time to retire Sargent DeDe Warren. She’s been beat up too many times in these bizarre cases.

Historia
On the surface, Lydia Fitzsimons has the perfect life - wife of a respected, successful judge, mother to a beloved son, mistress of a beautiful house in Dublin. That beautiful house, however, holds a secret. And when Lydia’s son, Laurence, discovers its secret, wheels are set in motion that lead to an increasingly claustrophobic and devastatingly dark climax.

Wow “Mommy Dearest” on steroids!
Revisado: 07-28-18
I love how each chapter starts off in the 3rd person. Each character has their own story to tell and it makes the story all come together. The emotional blackmail, lies and deceit and how controlling one person can be is twisted.

Historia
On a day that begins like any other, Hal receives a mysterious letter bequeathing her a substantial inheritance. She realizes very quickly that the letter was sent to the wrong person - but also that the cold-reading skills she's honed as a tarot card reader might help her claim the money. Soon, Hal finds herself at the funeral of the deceased...where it dawns on her that there is something very, very wrong about this strange situation and the inheritance at the center of it. Full of spellbinding menace and told in Ruth Ware's signature suspenseful style, an addictive thriller.

Good story, but not that suspenceful
Revisado: 06-28-18
Not one of my favorite Ruth Ware books. I thought the story would be more creepy and disturbing. The Westaway's are described as a very dysfunctional family but could of use more flashbacks of their life growing up. I think that would of painted more of a picture how cruel Mrs. Westaway was. Over all it was a good story and Imogen Church is a fantastic narrator.
