Good but could be trimmed
Revisado: 06-05-24
I enjoyed this overall but it could have been about 30% shorter. I had a hard time following all the storylines at the start of the book and thought the story was being wrapped up at least twice before there was yet another plot twist. That said, I may read the sequel. The characters are charming. The narrator was great!

Historia
The murder of jazz musician and social activist Markus Peña doesn’t come as a surprise to his estranged sisters. Melinda and Emily Peña know their controversial brother had enemies. After all, even they hadn’t spoken to Markus since their mother’s funeral two years ago. Who killed Markus? Was it someone trying to keep his latest protest song from publication? Was it the powerful and secretive uncle of his ex-girlfriend Rebecca? Or was it one of the other women Markus had callously abandoned?

A great and unique thriller!

No Home for Killers centers around a bad ass Latina anti-hero who is as flawed as she is funny. I really enjoyed the undercurrent of humor in Emily while also recognizing that there is something deeply wrong with her. While basically a fun read, the book also left me thinking about the nature of justice and how people go about seeking justice. Highly recommended.

A good edition to the Fiona Figg series

It took me awhile to get used to the new narrator but I really enjoyed the story and the new characters.
