Historia
Verily, the story Biff has to tell is a miraculous one, filled with remarkable journeys, magic, healings, kung fu, corpse reanimations, demons, and hot babes. Even the considerable wiles and devotion of the Savior's pal may not be enough to divert Joshua from his tragic destiny. But there's no one who loves Josh more (except maybe "Maggie," Mary of Magdalan) and Biff isn't about to let his extraordinary pal suffer and ascend without a fight.

This had me laughing quite a few times! If you can take religion tongue in cheek, you'll enjoy this interesting tail of Jesus' lost years.

Historia
The world will end on Saturday. Next Saturday. Just before dinner, according to The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch, the world's only completely accurate book of prophecies, written in 1655. The armies of Good and Evil are amassing and everything appears to be going according to Divine Plan. Except that a somewhat fussy angel and a fast-living demon are not actually looking forward to the coming Rapture. And someone seems to have misplaced the Antichrist.

If you're looking for the origins of the Supernatural series, look no further. Witty, sarcastic, lovable Crawly and his slightly less with it angel buddy get up to some entertaining antics, with a lot of weird british style humor thrown in for good measure.

Historia
Power is changing. Private corner offices and management by decree are out, as is unquestioned trust in the government and media. These former pillars of traditional power have been replaced by networks of informed citizens who collectively wield more power over their personal lives, employers, and worlds than ever before. So how do you navigate this new landscape and come out on top? Adam Grant, Wharton organizational psychologist, went to the World Economic Forum in Davos, the epicenter of power, and sat down with thought leaders from around the world, to find out.

Not what I expected at all
Revisado: 02-10-19
I genuinely had no idea what this book was going to be about and no clue what Davos was. But Adam Grant does an amazing job of breaking everything down and explaining things. This is probably my favorite book and I left feeling really excited to listen to it again.

Historia
Sir John Penlyon is planning to spend Christmas at his estate with his niece and his friend Danby, the closest thing he has to family since disowning his daughter years ago. (She eloped with the parson, who was, of course, penniless.) Danby suggests that at Christmastime the estate needs the presence of small children, and offers to find some - the “hirelings” - despite Sir John’s skepticism. Three children duly arrive, and the youngest, precocious four year-old Moppet, quickly endears herself to Sir John.

So predictable
Revisado: 02-10-19
You'd have to be living under a rock to not know what's going to happen in this book. I love me some holiday spirit but this is just too much rehash 1880s predictability.

2nd story was the best
Revisado: 06-09-18
This was frustrating and somewhere half way into the third story I just couldn't take it anymore.
PROs
The second story is good though they really jump the shark and have zero logic in some parts.
CONs
All three stories are amateurishly written.
Narration is painful until the narrator seems to develope a personality, somewhere between the 2-8 hr mark. She is very monotone.
Lots of painfully flawed logic in all 3 stories.

Historia
In August of 1914, the British ship Endurance set sail for the South Atlantic. In October 1915, still half a continent away from its intended base, the ship was trapped, then crushed in the ice. For five months, Sir Ernest Shackleton and his men, drifting on ice packs, were castaways in one of the most savage regions of the world. Lansing describes how the men survived a 1,000-mile voyage in an open boat across the stormiest ocean on the globe and an overland trek through forbidding glaciers and mountains.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
This book was breath taking. The reading was so good that I was on the edge of my seat for most of the journey, even though I constantly googled the expedition and the fate of the crew. I really loved it and am considering listening again, it's just so well done and interesting.

I wanted to love this
Revisado: 08-15-17
What made the experience of listening to Nerd Do Well the most enjoyable?
I love Simon Pegg and I was really excited for this book. He is an excellent reader and actor. His accent is also enjoyable and easy to understand.
How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?
I wish he had peppered in a few more onset stories. Of course I want to know about him and how he and his robot companion are fairing, but I would also have liked more of his personal accounts with his feature work. I think this was a bit superficial in comparison to the Rob Lowe book I had just finished. I also felt like I was missing out on a greater understanding, as many of the names he dropped were unfamiliar to me, and therefore more difficult to appreciate the experiences he did choose to share.
