Great story - in need of context
Revisado: 04-11-24
Great writing that really captures an earlier state of the pair’s relationship & earlier adventures - but without any warning that the timeframe shifts if you’re falling from zombie slayer.
Just know this is not the sequel to zombie slayer.

Historia
Yog-Sothoth, known as the Key and the Gate and a host of other names, is H.P. Lovecraft's most enduring creation after the Necromnomicon and Great Cthulhu itself. An eldritch god that occupies all time and space, Yog-Sothoth is most known for his role as the antagonist in The Dunwich Horror but has played a role in many other Cthulhu Mythos stories. Tales of Yog-Sothoth features several stories centered around the creepy deity and its monstrous intelligence.

Too Pulpy, Practically Fantasy
Revisado: 01-23-24
Second anthology from this source I've listened too - too pulpy, practically towards fantasy. Straight-up wizards and people with animal familiars make the mythos seems far less threatening and more knowable in a way that closes that divide that seperates "infinity beyond the veil" from just common stories about magic. I listened to the first 8 hours... but constantly found myself distracted or disengaging from the story. Ended up calling it quits.
Voice acting well done - no problems there! Saxon does a bang-up job.

Incredibly read but NOT a complete selection
Revisado: 12-14-23
Stephen Fry is a great voice actor, his opening commentary is entertaining, and the OG Holmes stories are, naturally, amazing. Unfortunately - if you’re looking for a one-stop-shop, as I was to listen with my sons to the whole of the bibliography, this lacks the casebook.

This entire series is gold. From the writing to the use of multiple voices for different narrators - always well constructed and enjoyable. By far my favorite character in the Warhammer 40k universe.

A rare Warhammer short that works.
Revisado: 05-28-23
I am not the biggest fan of these Warhammer, audio dramas – but this one clicks. It doesn’t feel like an hour of exposition. The dialogue and sound effects work to paint a world without seeming like the world is trying to explain itself to you.

Naturally, this leaves only one man for the job: Rogue Trader Janus Draik, gentlemen, scholar, scoundrel and duellist par excellence. Doesn’t Work
Revisado: 05-22-23
I want to like it. I download all the black fortress stuff. But this just isn’t a good format for telling these kinds of stories. It needs a narrator or it’s just a bunch of sound effects and exposition.
