Historia
A gifted young knight named Collum arrives at Camelot to compete for a place at the Round Table, only to find that he’s too late. King Arthur died two weeks ago at the Battle of Camlann, and only a handful of the knights of the Round Table are left. The survivors aren’t the heroes of legend like Lancelot or Gawain. They’re the oddballs of the Round Table, like Sir Palomides, the Saracen Knight, and Sir Dagonet, Arthur’s fool, who was knighted as a joke. They’re joined by Nimue, who was Merlin’s apprentice until she turned on him and buried him under a hill.

Great book, great audio book!
Revisado: 01-29-25
I have really enjoyed this author for many years. I want to say that this book falls in line with his other works… But actually, I think it is in some ways even better. I really like this author’s relationship and interest in the Arthurian legends. His writing and character development is evolved nicely and this is such pleasure to read and listen to.

Historia
Welcome to Grouse County - a fictional Midwest that is at once familiar and amusingly eccentric - where a thief vacuums the church before stealing the chalice, a lonely woman paints her toenails in a drafty farmhouse, and a sleepless man watches his restless bride scatter their bills beneath the stars. At the heart of The End of Vandalism is an unforgettable love triangle set off by a crime: Sheriff Dan Norman arrests Tiny Darling for vandalizing an anti-vandalism dance and then marries the culprit's ex-wife Louise.

Thoroughly Excellent

I highly recommend this. The story is poetic and endearing. It reinforces one’s insight and love of the Midwest, at times feeling familiar and also manages to lift one’s consciousness. The performance is spot on and fantastic.

Monotone reader, amateur story, very frustrating
Revisado: 12-23-23
Yet another Audible performance where the style of the performer feels so monotone, casual, and does not fit the genre or mood of the story. It’s like the narrator is reading an itemized receipt from Crate and Barrel. I’m not really liking the story either. It feels amateurish and exhaustingly repetitive and shallow. These are not things you can quite grasp from the “sample”. I wish I could return this.

Historia
Nestled amid picture-perfect mountains, the idyllic town of Wayward Pines is a modern-day Eden—at least at first glance. Except that within its fences, the residents are told where to work, how to live, and who to marry. None of them know how they got here. Some believe they are dead. Others think they’re trapped in an unfathomable experiment. Everyone secretly dreams of leaving, but those who dare face a terrifying surprise. As sheriff, Ethan Burke is tasked with enforcing the town’s laws, and he’s one of the few entrusted with the truth.

Great performance, the story…well…
Revisado: 06-12-23
The audible version is well done. But the story is a bit overworked and exhausting. Even though it ends on a cliffhanger…I’m not sure I want to continue.

Not recommended.
Revisado: 11-19-21
I agree with another reviewer that this book is a depressing enterprise. It has little warmth, humor, beauty, or interest. The action is gruesome, nasty, and unfortunately not particularly interesting either. The book is so slow and it just seems to roll on and on without purpose. I can’t really fathom who might be the intended audience or how it is done so well in other reviews.

Historia
Meet Roger. Skilled with words, languages come easily to him. He instinctively understands how the world works through the power of story. Meet Dodger, his twin. Numbers are her world, her obsession, her everything. All she understands, she does so through the power of math. Roger and Dodger aren’t exactly human, though they don’t realize it. They aren’t exactly gods, either. Not entirely. Not yet. Meet Reed, skilled in the alchemical arts like his progenitor before him. Reed created Dodger and her brother. He’s not their father. Not quite. But he has a plan.

Disappointing Narration
Revisado: 02-07-20
I read other reviews that mentioned they were particularly annoyed with the way this audiobook was narrated...and I didn’t quite believe them. I listened to the sample and all seemed fine. Yet, now that I’ve listened to half of the book, I think other reviews are right. The over the top, melodramatic and demeaning manner that some characters are cast really ruins the story at times....making it all feel more like a “Lemony Snicket” concept than the novel it is....or could be. I don’t recommend this recording.
