Historia
Scotland Yard Superintendent Perry Trethowan is enjoying a vacation evening at a cosy Yorkshire pub when an old woman shows him an original, unpublished Bronte manuscript. Trethowan agrees to engage in a little literary detective work, but he doesn’t realise that for a criminal the manuscript is motive for theft, torture - and murder.

Historia
An underpaid, overworked certified flight instructor cheats death while attempting to teach a cast of incompetent student pilots to fly at a skeezy South Florida flight school; all in the quest to build flight time so he can get a “real job” at an airline. The planes break, the regs break, metal gets bent, students are lost at sea, and a Top Gun wannabe student, who has 400 hours of flight instruction, still hasn’t made his first solo flight.

Loved it!
Revisado: 11-09-19
There's something magical about this book, CFI, in its compactness and in its humility. Maybe it's my (and your) longstanding and unfulfilled dream of becoming a pilot. But the magic is due to something a bit more than just our deferred dream. I think the magic comes from the self-deprecation. In a profession that cloaks itself in arrogance and self-righteousness, Alex Stone pulls back the curtain on an unglamorous and fallible job. It takes some courage to tell the truth, especially to the detriment of one's own sacred cow profession. For that reason, I didn't just enjoy the read: I loved this book.

Garbage
Revisado: 12-16-18
One of the worst novels I've ever read. Written by a 6th grader, for a 6th grader. Jordan plagiarizes Tolkien so senselessly and brutally that he should be charged with assault. If society ever begins burning books again, en masse, I hope this book is included. Oh! And the dialogue. The dialogue is a crime against thought.

Great reading!
Revisado: 06-17-18
This book relies heavily on dialogue! I felt fortunate that the reader was immensely talented. She was able to pull off the trick of essentially reading a play aloud, a performance with many characters and but a single actor.
