I’m a big fan of the Albert Smith series, This series took me longer to get into, and it dragged in places. However, it was very entertaining in others, and the spectacular ending was a lot of fun, especially for Albert Smith fans. Overall very enjoyable listen.

Fun read, nice mix of mildly amusing and suspenseful. Light, but a solid plot. Looking forward to the next in the series

I almost gave up after having to redownload a million times during the first book because of errors. But, once the second book started, I had no problem. Great listen if you want to hear all of jane austin’s books one after another. Great audio and narration

I put off listening because I was afraid the serious subject would be depressing, but it was an uplifting listen. The author is so intelligent, knowledgeable, and such a good writer that I wanted to hear more every time I stopped listening. He naturally weaves in interesting information on many topics, and sprinkles in humor from his experiences as a doctor and patient. His descriptions of his reaction to and thoughts about aging and a terminal diagnosis were reassuring and encouraging. I’ll be listening to this book again.

I loved the twists and turns, literary references, insights into humanity, and romantic tension. Best one of the series yet.

This was a great book. I am a fan of the series, but some of Nevada Barr's books are better than others. This was one of the really good ones. Compelling mystery, interesting characters, thoroughly enjoyable.

Entertaining and well-researched

I was a bit hesitant to buy this title. I had never read Kitty Kelley before, but my fear was that the book might read like a tabloid. That wasn't the case. The book dealt with both political and personal issues and was well-researched. Most of the information was attributed to a particular source, although some to unnamed sources. Kelley weaves together personal stories from the lives the of the particular family members to paint an enteraining and credible picture of the Bush family's rise to power and wealth over the past three generations. It is true the author sounds a bit snide at times, but the tone seems pretty justified when it comes out. The book does end a bit abruptly, not getting into the controversey of the Iraq war as much as I expected, but there are plenty of other authors more qualified who have addressed that subject.

Insider's account of the years up to 9/11

Total
5 out of 5 stars

Revisado: 05-23-04

Richard Clarke sets out a highly factual, detailed, and credible account of events and reactions during the Reagan, Bush I, Clinton, and Bush II administrations relevant to 9/11.
Brought into the White House by Republicans, Clake loyally served those administrations, and was one of the few Republican holdovers to serve during the Clinton administration. His Republican roots, his intelligence, the story he relates, and 30 year record as a dedicated, hard-working civil servant, make his account of the actions of the last four presidents highly credible. Clarke is no dummy. He knew that writing this book would burn a lot of bridges and open himself up to personal attacks by those who value their political agenda more than they value the truth. This is yet one more factor that cuts in favor of his credibility.
The book is crisp, clear, passionate, witty, and insightful. Clarke is able to recreate the drama and intensity of each event and crisis as if you were part of the action. Excellent book.

A good book for those interested in the science of weather. But, it is a little long on the flowery writing. Still, it is worth reading for the weather information and true stories about life on Mount Washihngton. I believe it is the only weather book on audible right now.
