Historia
Filled with breathtaking scenes, the elemental north woods, the sweep of seasons, an iconic American barn, a fateful vision rendered in the falling rain. The Story of Edgar Sawtelle is a meditation on the limits of language and what lies beyond, a brilliantly inventive retelling of an ancient story, and an epic tale of devotion, betrayal, and courage in the American heartland.

Major error
Revisado: 01-11-25
The author needs to do his research before he has the main character give his dog Tylenol. Tylenol is toxic to dogs and this is just wrong to have this in this story. And yes, I do believe someone out there will remember this and do it if their think their dog needs a painkiller

The Get to Principle guides the listener to an experiential understanding of the nature of life - how "the way you look at life is how you treat life, and the way you treat life is what life becomes". Instead of living in the past, Larkins encourages listeners to tap into the "something" happening in the moment and live in the field of possibility. Practicing this mindset can have a life-changing effect on what you become.

Changing my perspective. There are several things in life I don’t want to do, but when I think that I ‘get to’ I approach them with a better attitude. This really can be a life changing book.

Historia
1970s, Southern Alabama. Sixty-two-year-old Jeremiah Lewis Taylor, or “Nub,” has spent his whole life listening to those he loves tell him he’s no good—first his ex-wife, now his always-disapproving daughter. Sure, his escapades have made him, along with his cousin and perennial sidekick, Benny, just a smidge too familiar with small-town law enforcement, but he’s never harmed anyone—except perhaps himself.

Revisado: 12-12-23
I love Sean Dietrich and had read all of his books. I knew this one was coming out but had forgotten about it. What I wanted to find when my credit came up was a book that told a story about real people that I could relate to, and there it was! Please keep writing Sean. The world needs your stories.

Beautiful stories about love of nature and life
Revisado: 06-17-23
One review said this book lacked empathy. I could not disagee more. It was entirely about empathy. Empathy for nature, birds, animals, insects and of course people. Especially family and parents. And the stories were beautifully written. I will return to read this again and again

Historia
The trauma that our world experienced in recent years—as result of both the pandemic and societal tensions that threaten to overwhelm us—has been unprecedented and is not going away anytime soon. It is clear that existing political and economic systems are not enough to bring the change that the world needs. In this book, Rainn Wilson explores the possibility and hope for a spiritual revolution, a “Soul Boom” in order to address today’s greatest issues—mental health, racism and sexism, climate change, and economic injustice.

Rain does it again❤️
Revisado: 05-02-23
I loved the Bassoon King, but loved this book more. Give it a go. Yes, it’s about religion, but don’t let that put you off. It’s really about love. Loving yourself, the people around you and how to work toward saving the world. Narration is great and I’m so glad Rainn does it himself.
Keep writing Rainn!!

Woodrow Wilson Nickel, age 105, feels his life ebbing away. But when he learns giraffes are going extinct, he finds himself recalling the unforgettable experience he cannot take to his grave. It’s 1938. The Great Depression lingers. Hitler is threatening Europe, and world-weary Americans long for wonder. Behind the wheel is the young Dust Bowl rowdy Woodrow.

I just don’t understand the criticism of the narrator. It’s a story told by an old man. The narrator sounds like an old man. What can I say. Anyway, it’s a great story. It will make you laugh and cry. At least that’s what it did for me. I hope you like it.

Historia
Cyril Avery is not a real Avery - or at least that's what his adoptive parents tell him. And he never will be. But if he isn't a real Avery, then who is he? Born out of wedlock to a teenage girl cast out from her rural Irish community and adopted by a well-to-do if eccentric Dublin couple via the intervention of a hunchbacked Redemptorist nun, Cyril is adrift in the world, anchored only tenuously by his heartfelt friendship with the infinitely more glamourous and dangerous Julian Woodbead.

Wonderful story
Revisado: 07-02-22
I rarely write reviews but this book spoke to me. I was born in 1956, so I am a little younger than the protagonist. But I felt I knew him. So many of my high school/college friends ‘came out’ in the 70’s and experienced what Cyril went through. And so many were lost to AIDS. It’s a beautiful book, about life really, and the narration is perfect. I’m sure I will listen again, but for those listening the first time, savor it. Take it in and feel all the feels. ❤️

Welcome to the Black Triangle, New York's decadent district of opium dens, gambling casinos, and back-room abortions. The queen of this unsavory neighborhood is Black Lena Shanks, whose family leads a ring of female criminals - women skilled in the art of cruelty. On a crusade to crush Lena's evil empire, the judge has sentenced three of her family members to death. And now she wants revenge.

If you like to listen to books that have no redeeming characters at all, have had it. Dark, depressing, gross. As usual RC Bray is extraordinary, but I will no longer listen to a book based on him being the narrator.
