fun and fresh
Revisado: 10-14-22
Great for a short, lighthearted read - characters were original and snarky. One of Kasie West's best.

Best series ever!!!
Revisado: 02-18-22
I forever love this book and series. I'd read a dictionary if Joe Shine wrote it. The narrator did a great job. I'm looking forward to the 3rd book - hopefully we'll get to see both narrators from this book and from the first! You won't regret investing in this series.

Historia
Gracie Reed is doing just fine. Sure, she was fired by her overly “friendly” boss, and yes, she still hasn’t gotten her mother into the nursing home of their dreams, but she’s healthy, she’s (somewhat) happy, and she’s (mostly) holding it all together. But when a mysterious SUV pulls up beside her, revealing Chinese cinema's golden couple Wei Fangli and Sam Yao, Gracie’s world is turned on its head. The famous actress has a proposition: Due to their uncanny resemblance, Fangli wants Gracie to be her stand-in.

So cute!!
Revisado: 01-04-22
This was such a cute, quick read. I loved the characters, and I didn't have to think that hard while listening to it. I guessed 90% of the big reveals, but I didn't mind that. there is a fair amount of cursing - maybe ~30 F-bombs? Sex is alluded to, but nothing is explicit - which I appreciated a lot. Narrator was spectacular.

Historia
First, the bad news: an ancient evil—you know, your standard consume-all-life-in-the-galaxy deal—is about to be unleashed. The good news? Squad 312 is standing by to save the day. They've just got to take care of a few small distractions first. Like the clan of gremps who'd like to rearrange their favorite faces. And the cadre of illegit GIA agents with creepy flowers where their eyes used to be, who'll stop at nothing to get their hands on Auri. Then there's Kal's long-lost sister, who's not exactly happy to see her baby brother and has a Syldrathi army at her back.

Slightly sketch, but an enjoyable re-read
Revisado: 07-29-20
I remember reading this when I was younger, and somehow I managed to totally skim over all the sketchy parts. O.O I probably wouldn't suggest it for a younger audience. but it was a fun re-read. Even though I spent 3/4 of the book wanting to smack the main character. But yeah, 4 stars feels fair.

Fabulous blast from the past
Revisado: 06-05-20
I read this book when I was younger and worried a bit that rereading it would pop the fantasy of it being such a good book. No problems whatsoever. This book is still amazing and the narrator managed to further improve it with her spectacular performance. Sassy 16-year-old Evie was brought to life in the best possible way.

Historia
Two years ago, Louise le Blanc fled her coven and took shelter in the city of Cesarine, forsaking all magic and living off whatever she could steal. There, witches like Lou are hunted. They are feared. And they are burned. As a huntsman of the Church, Reid Diggory has lived his life by one principle: Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live. But when Lou pulls a wicked stunt, the two are forced into an impossible situation - marriage. Lou, unable to ignore her growing feelings, yet powerless to change what she is, must make a choice. And love makes fools of us all.

Fantastic story, overly intense male narrator
Revisado: 05-31-20
Narrators: I'm only partway through and hoping that the male narrator will mellow with time. I understand that he's playing a religious fanatic, but walking down the street does not require such intense, clipped, quick paced tones. It hikes up my adrenaline unnecessarily. Unless somebody is dying in this scene, take a chill pill and see me at the climax. I have no complaints about the female narrator. She is spectacular.
Story: I have never seen a charade marriage more artfully justified. I'm excited to see how the characters develop and eagerly waiting for the facade to fall to shambles, as I know it surely must. Poor Reid is gonna go nuts in the meantime. I don't remember what blog recommended this book to me, but I am in their debt.

"True belonging doesn't require us to change who we are. It requires us to be who we are." Social scientist Brené Brown, PhD, LMSW, has sparked a global conversation about the experiences that bring meaning to our lives - experiences of courage, vulnerability, love, belonging, shame, and empathy. In Braving the Wilderness, Brown redefines what it means to truly belong in an age of increased polarization.

"Familiar and uncomfortable true" - ch. 7
Revisado: 04-16-18
Would you listen to Braving the Wilderness again? Why?
Absolutely, I read this book for a class at school, but I was impressed with how much I liked it.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Brene Brown was telling a story about herself, so she was my favorite character.
Which character – as performed by Brené Brown – was your favorite?
I love that the book was voiced by the author. It wouldn't have been as good otherwise.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I almost cried a few times, and I definitely smiled a lot.
Any additional comments?
It's worth the read.
