Refreshing Take on a Beloved Genre
Revisado: 05-24-24
This book is a refreshing take on police procedurals. it feels current and relevant to the world today. I love the characters introduced in this first book and cannot wait to see how their stories evolve.

Historia
Judith Butler, the groundbreaking thinker whose iconic book Gender Trouble redefined how we think about gender and sexuality, confronts the attacks on “gender” that have become central to right-wing movements today. Global networks have formed “anti-gender ideology movements” that are dedicated to circulating a fantasy that gender is a dangerous, perhaps diabolical, threat to families, local cultures, civilization—and even “man” himself. In this book, Butler illuminates the concrete ways that this phantasm of “gender” collects and displaces anxieties and fears of destruction.

The answer is clear.

Butler’s perspective on the centrality of gender for the global far right is spot on. As a family scholar myself, I emphatically nodded along as they presented their argument.

This was an awesome book. Perfect for anyone interested in marriage, families, & social justice. I love the insights into women’s minds in that era & the double-binds both women & men encounter navigating relationships.

Probably my favorite Josie Quinn book
Revisado: 06-17-22
I really like this series. The characters are well developed and the author does a great job of introducing us to more background of the whole team with each book in the series. I read/listen to so many books in this genre, I can often guess the twists and turns, but this one left me waiting for each new development to put all the pieces together. I hope Lisa can keep this series going. It’s really, really great.
