Historia
Mags was an orphan and slave of ‘bad blood’ who toiled in a gem mine all his young life. He would have died before adulthood, had he not been Chosen and taken to Haven to be trained in the new Herald Collegium. Now, Mags was never hungry and never cold. He slept in a real bed in his own room and, most importantly, he had Dallen, who was like another part of himself. And yet, aside from Lena and Bear, both loners like he was, he couldn’t relate to most of the trainees.

Mercedes always comes through
Revisado: 01-01-25
Not only do I have the collegium chronicals on audible, but on kindle and hard copy. These story of Mags and the trials he goes through is one of the best in the valdermarian series.
Mags is tested both physically and mentally due to a far seer’s prophecy, kirball and so much more. He has to explore what his friendships mean, deal with gossip and pain he never thought he would have to deal with.

Historia
Baron Valdemar and his people have found a temporary haven, but it cannot hold all of them, or for long. Trouble could follow on their heels at any moment, and there are too many people for Crescent Lake to support. Those who are willing to make a further trek by barge on into the West will follow him into a wilderness depopulated by war and scarred by the terrible magics of a thousand years ago and the Mage Wars. But the wilderness is not as "empty" as it seems. There are potential friends and rapacious foes.

The character development of Cordus Valdamar
Revisado: 05-13-24
I honestly bought this book, as all Mercedes Lackey books, and audio book. The story of valdamar are always delightful, with even a strong pantheon saying of there is no one true way, I was so delighted when I saw she was finally making an origins story of valdamar itself. The first meeting of the hawk brothers was sooo good it was like I was there in the room. This is not to take away from the voice actor because he really puts the emotion you need when you need it and is just like warm honey when listening. I always recommend these books after reading them and this one is going into that pile also
