Historia
Most Americans dismiss George III as a buffoon - a heartless and terrible monarch with few, if any, redeeming qualities. The best-known modern interpretation of him is Jonathan Groff's preening, spitting, and pompous take in Hamilton, Lin-Manuel Miranda's Broadway masterpiece. But this deeply unflattering characterization is rooted in the prejudiced and brilliantly persuasive opinions of 18th-century revolutionaries. After combing through hundreds of thousands of pages of never-before-published correspondence, award-winning historian Andrew Roberts has uncovered the truth.

Mad genius performance!
Revisado: 09-13-24
Unlike most biographies of the era (particularly from America), Robert’s’ is as entertaining as it is informative. Thanks to the superb narrator, this bio was by far the most entertaining with accents and singing that helped accentuate the context/ various viewpoints of each character. This is by far the best and most entertaining biography I have ever listened to and I can’t wait to dive deeper into Robert’s’ other works.

The whole story felt like a build up to nothing. I was hoping for turncoat character or another paint plot twist, but it was as exciting as being Vice President…

Historia
Former presidents have an unusual place in American life. King George III believed that George Washington’s departure after two terms made him “the greatest character of the age.” But Alexander Hamilton worried former presidents might “[wander] among the people like ghosts.” They were both right. Life After Power tells the stories of seven former presidents, from the Founding to today. Each changed history. Each offered lessons about how to decide what to do in the next chapter of life.

(It can’t, obviously. It can only get much, much worse.) Soon Dee is forced to share her adorably cozy home with her parents and estranged grandmother. Then she’s tossed into the deep end at work, tasked with cleaning up a scandal for the intimidatingly chic luxury fashion firm Celeste. If that weren’t enough, she discovers her hot nemesis works there, too.

Clean love story that’s also well written
Revisado: 11-29-23
I liked how the story was clean, but not void of love between the characters. It was nice to hear the adult-ness without the gratuity. The subplot was a fun and cute story of itself. Plus Phillipa Soo is amazing in everything she does!!

Great cast, interesting story, but bad ending
Revisado: 09-18-23
Very captivating story and wonderful performance led by Jessica Chastain. Michael Shannon was a wasted casting. The ending feels like the middle of the story and an odd cliffhanger. Hopefully there’s more though…

Captivating story with great political insight
Revisado: 07-10-23
The story at its core is fun with twist and turns. The added political insights into various politicians, that some of the characters are so obviously based on (lol), as well as how a top diplomat approaches decisions can only be included with an extremely knowledgeable and experienced Sec. of State as Sec. Clinton. While I came from Pres. Clinton & James Patterson’s novels, this is far more intriguing and entertaining!
