Historia
In 1972, Elliot Mintz installed a red light in his bedroom in Laurel Canyon. When it started flashing, it meant that either John Lennon or Yoko Ono—or sometimes both—were calling him. Which they did almost every day for nearly ten years, engaging Mintz in hours-long late-night phone conversations that all but consumed him for the better part of a decade. In We All Shine On, Mintz—a former radio and television host in Los Angeles—recounts the story of how their unlikely friendship began and where it led him over the years.

Stunning. Fascinating human story, all engrossing. A new appreciation for Yoko! Thanks Elliot!

I look forward to listening again. This book stands alone for its integrity and affection towards Yoko and John.

Loving the book so far. Need a PDF for text/chat
Revisado: 08-31-22
I'm giving a review after just starting the book to hopefully help draw attention to what everyone else is saying- the text/ chat sections are interesting but hard to follow being read out loud. A PDF supplement so we can read them as intended, would fix that. As it is I'm pausing the book and hope the publishers provide the texts/chat as supplemental material. That would be cool.

Historia
How did four young men from a faded old seaport in Northern England lead such an epic musical and cultural revolution? Why could the story of the Beatles only have happened in such a charged decade? What remains to be said about this British band that hasn’t been said before? Questions like these lie at the beating heart of these 12 lessons that offer a fresh look at how this celebrated band became one of the most compelling voices against the status quo.

A welcome addition to the Beatles literature...
Revisado: 12-11-20
The lecture format works well here and the material is well documented and compelling. I've read most of the major Beatles books, most recently the extended version of Mark Lewisohn's Tune In. This is not a deep dive but more broad and sweeping. A splendid time listening to these lectures.

Historia
Peter Asher met the Beatles in the spring of 1963, the start of a lifelong association with the band and its members. He had a front-row seat as they elevated pop music into an art form, and he was present at the creation of some of the most iconic music of our times. But Asher was also a talented musician in his own right, with a great ear for what was new and fresh. Once, when Paul McCartney wrote a song that John Lennon didn’t think was right for the Beatles, Asher asked if he could record it.

He was there after all..
Revisado: 11-23-19
He was there after all. Peter witnessed the Beatles in the beginning and and in the end.. few could come even close to that kind of access- yet he comes across unassuming and humble. It was fun taking the trip. Some of the stories are profound. Some we know well- but Peter manages to put his unique spin on them to great effect!
