too many bad things to name
Revisado: 03-13-25
I bought the whole series as one credit on audible. Wish I could get my credit back. I made it through book 3 but this is all. no more. It's like the author thought the book should be longer so I'll write a chapter here about somebody and then another chapter over here about somebody else across the world.

Historia
After Tova Sullivan’s husband died, she began working the night shift at the Sowell Bay Aquarium, mopping floors and tidying up. Keeping busy has always helped her cope, which she’s been doing since her eighteen-year-old son, Erik, mysteriously vanished on a boat in Puget Sound over thirty years ago. Tova becomes acquainted with curmudgeonly Marcellus, a giant Pacific octopus living at the aquarium. Marcellus knows more than anyone can imagine but wouldn’t dream of lifting one of his eight arms for his human captors—until he forms a remarkable friendship with Tova.

I love a book with so many interesting characters.

This author is well able to keep the suspense going. You are brought to the point of a revelation so many times and then it switches to give more background. You had me drooling to find out the next clue.

45 hours of mundane story filled with gen z self centeredness and angst. There were no characters that were likeable. The presenter talked in whiny voices way too much.

Utter Boredom
Revisado: 08-02-14
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
Actually having some type of action.
Would you ever listen to anything by Deborah Harkness again?
I might but I would be very careful to read many reviews first.
How could the performance have been better?
I feel sorry for the performer, she didn't have much to work with, but the dullness of the plot was magnified by her monotonous voice.
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
I honestly cannot think of anything. It was pure torture for me.
Any additional comments?
Can I have my credit back?
