Historia
Passionate, earthy, deeply affecting, The Red Tent combines rich storytelling with a valuable contribution to modern fiction: a vibrant new perspective of female life in the age that shaped present day civilization and values.
If you like The Red Tent, try The Harlot by the Side of the Road, a recounting of some of the most startling and explicit writings from The Old Testament.

Mundane Fiction very loosely based on OT Stories
Revisado: 10-16-13
What would have made The Red Tent better?
Perhaps if it held closer to biblical accounts. This story has primarily a pagan perspective for all the female characters.
What was most disappointing about Anita Diamant’s story?
Wow, sometimes the mundane details and describing every unimportant detail becomes tedious. It seamed the author had the main character saying everyone's names and how they are related to her every few pages. The prose was written as a formal English translation of biblical times only spoken through a young female character. Just felt off.
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Carol Bilger?
No idea... The narrator has a lovely voice however it was like listening to gentle version of William Shatner.
Any additional comments?
Couldn't finish it (gave up almost half way through) - too many mundane details which regularly got in the way of the story.

Couldn't Finish it!
Revisado: 01-04-13
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
Those who like male heros who don't take "No" for an answer, be aggressive, manipulative and full of themselves. Those who like heroines to say "No" and still fall for an abusive hero she has just met.
Would you ever listen to anything by Christine Feehan again?
Not sure... Her style in this first book was "tell" versus "show" which grew very tiresome and why I ended up not being able to finish. I was told the hero & heroine were "sexy", and told how they were feeling and so on... I prefer to intiut these details via their actions and dialogue rather than be told how to feel about the characters.
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Juanita Parker?
Not sure if this could have made a difference or not. It wasn't the best performance however I imagine this was an awkward book to narrate due to the author's style - so hard to fault the narrator.
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
I was looking for a new vampire series and this was rated high so I thought I would try. I believe the story could be told in a more effective manner. Maybe the writing improves in later books - since this appears to be a popular series.
Any additional comments?
Not sure why this has received so many high ratings... and I'm a fan of several vampire series - Sookie Stackhouse, Night Huntress, Black Dagger Brotherhood, Vampire for Hire, Anna Strong, Love at Stake, Argeneau Vampires, Jane Jameson and so on. I would recommend any of these series instead. Just in case anyone thinks I picked up the wrong genre and was being unduly harsh.
By the way, it is very, very rare that I do not finish listening to a book. This is only the second one - the other was an Eckhart Tolle book recommended by Oprah :)

Historia
Socialite Eden Carlbough didn't expect running a girls' camp to be easy, but she never thought she'd literally be run up an apple tree by the little monsters...nor did she think she'd come crashing down into the capable arms of orchard owner Chase Elliot. Chase knew he'd caught a windfall when he looked at the woman in his arms. He didn't like being cast as the serpent, but how could he resist when she'd just offered him such forbidden fruit?

Don't be Tempted...
Revisado: 12-11-12
What would have made Temptation better?
Believeable characters and a male hero who understands no means no.
What could Nora Roberts have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
Just found this whole premise too formulaic.
What three words best describe Alyson Silverman’s performance?
Sounds too young

A Classic!
Revisado: 12-11-12
Would you consider the audio edition of Dune to be better than the print version?
Absolutely! Even though I had heard of Dune I had never read it... once I listened to this audio version I was hooked into listening to the rest of series. The background music and sounds added tremendously to the experience. Even though I listened to this book years ago I can still hear the sounds of Arrakis.
Who was your favorite character and why?
This production was so well done and I enjoyed hearing each interpretation.
Which character – as performed by the narrators – was your favorite?
All of them!
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes and I tried... I would listen at every chance I could, in the car, shopping, falling asleep and so on.
Any additional comments?
This is such a classic and well done by each of the narrators... I always recommend this book to friends new to Audible.

Historia
Bar owner Kevin Kowalski is used to women throwing their phone numbers at him, but lately he's more interested in finding a woman to settle down with. A woman like Beth Hansen. If only their first meeting hadn't gone so badly. Beth's tending bar at a wedding when she comes face-to-face with a tuxedo-clad man she never thought she'd see again. She tries to keep her distance from Kevin but, by last call, she can't say no to his too-blue eyes or the invitation back to his room.

So So...
Revisado: 12-11-12
Is there anything you would change about this book?
The female lead Beth was just a bit to "out there" for me. It was hard to see what Kevin really saw in her and why he would fall in love with her. And, Kevin was just too nice, understanding, tolerant, hunky and so on.
What does Lauren Fortgang bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
She was able to breathe some life into Beth.
Was Undeniably Yours worth the listening time?
Only to fill in the rest of the Kowalski family story.
Any additional comments?
I hesitated in buying this book based upon other reviews so, I wasn't surprised when I didn't enjoy it as much as the other books in the series.

The downside to faking your own death is that people tend to get upset when they find out they’ve been had. In Atticus O’Sullivan’s case, they’re upset enough to come after him to make sure he dies for real this time. Yet he can’t remain in hiding anymore: He has to bind his apprentice, Granuaile, to the earth so that she can become the first new Druid in centuries.

Love this Series!!
Revisado: 12-11-12
What made the experience of listening to Trapped the most enjoyable?
I just enjoy listening to the further adventures of Atticus and Oberon.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Haven't met a character yet that wasn't interestingly portrayed. Much thought seems to go into both the main and side chararcters.
Have you listened to any of Luke Daniels’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I've listened to Luke's performance for the previous books in this series and have enjoyed each rendition. He pulls off some wicked pronunciations as though they are "everyday" words heard at Walmart :)
And, like others have mentioned - love Oberon's voice.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Not giving anything away here - buy the book and listen!
Any additional comments?
Start with the first book... you will get hooked... and I'm now waiting for the next one... I think next June sometime.

Predictable and lame
Revisado: 12-11-12
What disappointed you about Crown Jewel?
Characters were at most 2 dimensional with money able to buy/solve any plot issues. Difficult research was easily handled by Grace a “young reporter” who seemed to have built an amazing list of contacts and sources which I’m sure most “real” reporters would need a lifetime to acquire.Hero Ricky threw money whenever needed and with Roxy’s keen insight was able reason out/predict the motives behind all other character’s actions.
What do you think your next listen will be?
This was my first Fern Michaels book and I doubt I will try another...
What three words best describe Jack Garrett’s performance?
He did the best he could with the story given.
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
Disappointment in the time I spent listening... I don't mind a light read but, I found this one way too predictable and unbelievable. The author tells vs shows motivations for characters. Think of an old style romance without much romance.
Any additional comments?
I think I must have bought this on sale a while ago - I wouldn't really recommend it - even as a beach read.

Narration was difficult to listen to. Words were mispronounced, narrator often sounded breathless, unnatural and awkward as she read. Book often refers to exercises (contained in the appendix) to complete as you go along - since there is no download provided with this content ... much of the benefit is lost.
