Fun and suspenseful

If you liked Warlock Holmes there's a good chance you'll enjoy this as well. Fun plot twists abound. Well-read by Gwynrth Young! I loved her rendition of the beautiful and poised Madame Wu, and she gave each character its own voice. I ended up wishing it was longer, and hoping that Mr. "Plume" will produce additional works forthwith. Chop, chop, Mr. Plume....

Lacking in a few ways.
Revisado: 03-04-21
The storyline was a little hard to follow at points. (especially backstory explanations) The buildup of romance between the heroine and her love interest was not well-developed and kind of hard to believe. Lots of staring (on his part), reluctance (on hers) he kidnaps and uses her for her power,, (wtf?!?) and then all of a sudden he can't live without her and she is hot for him? The author doesn't really delve into why, (other than his body and something about her that isn't stated) or create moments that bring the two closer. The reading was kind of like listening to an automaton. Not much differentiation in voices, or expression of emotion in tone. I am pretty laid-back around audio books - low expectations, just looking for an escape. I actually got frustrated with these characters.
