Just meh. Not a fan of this narrator whose diction is so distinctly word for word as to distract one from the content. In the future, I also will avoid audio books that, by their process-oriented nature (journals, workbooks) lose impact in an audio-only format.

Peter Levine explains trauma in ways that help both Clinicians and clients to understand how trauma takes up residence in the body, how the mind/body (particularly gut!) connection comes into play, and how our culture helps to perpetuate the problems that science and evidence-based therapy can resolve. There is hope for trauma survivors and this book delivers it. I was eager to consume this Audible version and Ed Nash's narration is pleasant company as a listener.

This book provides a nice summary of attachment theory from Christian therapists' experience and perspective. Examples of the Ambivalent, Avoidant, Disorganized, and Secure attachment styles as well as case studies are abundant and allow one to self-identify one's personal style. The theory is presented within a spiritual framework with scripture to help readers integrate faith-based precepts with concepts historically presented only from a secular perspective. The authors conclude with practices and spiritual disciplines for those actively pursuing a Christ-led life to counter-balance attachment style based challenges. That being said, the presenter's style of the audio version is distracting with emotional inflections tightly limited within each word, annunciations so precisely delivered, and diction paced such that it often sounds automated rather than read by a person. To overcome the tedious pace, consider turning up the speed (1.5 speed made it less obvious).

This is a great summary of attachment science and the impact for individuals, couples, families, and society. I love the author's reading.
