Historia
St. Pete Beach is getting weird. Between warlocks, shark shifters, and wolf packs going to war, Hali Waverly and Gray Hunter have their hands full. Things get even worse when shifters with ties to Gray’s pack start attacking people on the beach. What’s even weirder is that when the duo step in during a frothing melee, the shifters drop dead before they can be questioned.

Not all parents deserve forgiveness and inclusion
Revisado: 04-21-25
So… I have an issue with the main character. If you have trouble following the storyline of those who live an entitled & charmed life, yet allow ego to lead their life while showing a total lack of empathy… this story may not be for you.
I’m sorry but Hali bullying Gray into forgiving his mother.. it’s a dealbreaker for me.
Everybody deserves to feel safe in ALL of their relationships. “But it’s your MOTHER”, is not a valid argument.
If Hali is going to hold the demands over Gray’s head that their future children MUST have “4 grandparents, 2 uncles and an aunt”.. against his very clearly stated needs and boundaries he is continually having to set and reset with her around his discomfort and mistrust of his parents....
this is not love.
Plain and simple.
And I would hope that Gray, who seems to have a higher emotional intelligence than Hali due to the challenges of his upbringing; a man who needs the quality of his family to be “shown” and their love to be unconditional, wouldn’t want to raise a child with a person who decides for both of them that his needs are not valid.
That a big family who you probably can’t trust is more important than a small family filled with love and emotional (and physical) safety.
Blood is not more important than sanity, safety, and comfort.
It just isn’t.
But of course, we’re talking about Hali. This character has lived a life surrounded by love and support, to the point she feels stifled & chooses to reject the help and love from others due to nothing more than her pride.
It must be quite a soft life, to feel safe enough to have the option to let one’s pride reject the love and help of others who surround, truly love, and support oneself unconditionally.

Historia
Kit McCafferty's life is quiet, unremarkable, and filled with cat hair. In the magical city of Coldstream, located on the border between Scotland and England, Kit is viewed as little more than mildly eccentric and mostly harmless. She passes her days caring for her family of five cats, feeding the local feral moggies, and maintaining relatively good relations with her neighbors. All that changes, however, when a teenage werewolf shows up at her door in the desperate hope of renting out a nearby vacant flat.

Creative story in a well-written world! 9/10 ⭐️
Revisado: 03-25-25
I enjoyed this book! I hadn’t heard of this author before but was recommended to me at the end of listening to a book by Lauretta Hignett (one of my fav. writers atm).
I appreciate this story not consisting of 20 somethings and an unlikely love pairing of “fated mates”, or whatever the were/shifter genre almost always consists of!
I mean it could happen down the road, but I appreciate the shenanigans of single women who happens to also be a sassy bada$$. Usually once a “mate” makes his way into the main character’s life it’s usually all about possession of one another, with the plot becoming secondary (which CAN be fun to read… sometimes). And honestly that’s just not something I really care to fantasize about!
But that’s just me.
I’m trying not to give the story away as it’s fairly creative but if you like cats and Lauretta Hignett’s stories, you’ll probably like this.
The only thing is, there are a few long stretches which became monotonous to me, and I’m not sure if it’s from the writing or the voice acting.
It happens when Kit is in “action” for an extended stretch and the story is being told from the lens of her internal observations and thought process.
PS - I had to translate a couple of British/Scottish terms throughout the story, so if you’re not used to their slang, just letting you know that it’s a thing here.
Enjoy!

WHY IS THIS SERIES STALLED ON BOOK 3?
Revisado: 03-21-25
Why start this creative and fun series, then stop before even hitting the halfway point? Such a let down to your fans!
I love this premise and the whole “deadly sins” thing would be well received today - so why not finish what we started?

I found this author recently and have only read the unicorn books so far. I enjoy them so much I came back to purchase them on audible!
I’ve found that in my experience, for whatever reason, fantasy, witchy and magical stories are far more creative and entertaining when written by authors in the UK, Ireland & Australia, vs. American authors (with a handful of exceptions).
It must be the looking at life through a new perspective (for me).
Anyway, looking forward to more stories about Tru & her man, and Story of course!

Great story! Very creative characters and interesting point of view through Tru’s eyes.
Really enjoying this author stepping outside the box from “typical” supernatural/witchy stories as “predictable” and “safe” is becoming a boring genre.
I really enjoyed Tru’s story (I’d only read Tru’s other 2 stories previously.)
Hoping to see more of her in the future-future.

Historia
Hadley Hunter never saw herself as mayor of Moonstone Bay. Now she has the job, and it seems to be a whole lot of squabbling neighbors and missing foul-mouthed birds instead of the action and adventure she was expecting. All of that changes when a local worker for one of the hotels calls in to report seeing a child wandering in the road in the middle of nowhere. Both the woman and child are missing when units go looking.

Speed up narration for listenability!! Great story if you’re just looking for witchy brain candy.
Revisado: 01-24-25
I’ll start by stating that I believe all of the stories of this author’s series were very creative and interesting during the first 15 - 20 Winchester Mystery Series. After that, things become a little cookie cutter and dull, to an audience who is hoping for continued topicality, intrigue, and creativity.
As for the narrator, she is one of the better narrators I have ever heard. Just do yourself and speed up the playback to 1.10 to 1.25. For some reason, the production company slowed her narration down very slowly, which makes her inflection nearly impossible to look past, in order to digest the story.
I’m getting the vibe that this story is perfect for you if you’re in your 20’s (or reminiscing and wishing you were in your 20’s), with model “good looks”, “white” ethnicity” and a life that’s been handed to you.
Honestly these stories aren’t relatable in todays climate unless you’re entitled that way. The biggest problem Hadley has is, on principle, needing to do the opposite of what her boyfriend tells her to do. This feels to be the basis of her identity.
I’m noticing the stories throughout AML’s series keep getting recycled and there are fun new character ideas but they all seem to have the same personality, get into the same shenanigans, and run into villains who LOVE exposition whilst being conquered.
I’m a little over the spoiled brat drop dead gorgeous main character. It this how audiences view themselves? Or is that how they believe they should be treated?
I feel that audiences are too sophisticated
to crave stories like this anymore.
It’s like the author lumped together the original charmed with entitled, bratty, & white women whose men find their entitlement and child-like tantrums sexy…?s (that’s not a thing irl).
Do men actually threaten to “paddle [their girlfriend’s] bottoms blue? Cause.. I’m getting
some Daddy vibes here.
Not kink shaming, but this is NOT the mainstream, nor is this daddy domination thing a healthy attitude in a leading man (at least not leading men who are written the way Gaylen is).
There are other authors out there who offer a heck of a lot more creativity and content, and don’t insult their readers by rewriting the same story over and over again, while claiming each one to be it’s own story.
And if you want to bring kink into it.. do it.
Otherwise having the main man fawn all over
his woman for the explicit reason of sharing mannerisms with little girls everywhere, and then sexually working that into their dynamic, just comes off and massively creepy to me.
That is not the “norm”. There’s nothing wrong with relationships like that, but that is not how most “healthy” relationships are able to actually exist.
Unless both parties agree to go into said relationship with express consent to be this way with each other, why not assume the other person is an adult, and allow them to have and maintain their boundaries?

Hadley Hunter was living a normal life on the mainland when fate stepped in and gave her exactly what she always wanted: true love and excitement. It doesn’t hurt that a bit of magic was thrown in for good measure. Hadley is a witch learning how to use her powers, a woman in love, and a trouble magnet with a snarky tongue and a heart of gold. Join her and her magical group of mayhem seekers - including a shifter, cupid, demon and siren, who all have history that runs centuries deep - as they unravel the mystery of an island that could very well be magic itself.

2 things - speed up the playback & somebody please get Hally a Zoloft and a book about boundaries?
Revisado: 01-06-25
Do yourself a favor and speed up the playback. I found the cadence of the narrators voice to be really disruptive until I realized if you speed up the recording, it sounds totally normal.
It feels like it was edited to slow way down to the point of distraction
Also Hally’s attitude is getting nice and grating by the 2nd book in this omnibus. She is a bully and manipulative and refuses to be decent if she doesn’t get her way.
Somebody PLEASE get this girl a Zoloft and into therapy. She comes off like a spoiled 14 year old and it makes it hard to not fast forward through her tantrums.
I love these stories, I enjoy this series, I enjoy the characters! Except the main one is a little unbearable right now.

A powerful supernatural mob boss is terrorizing my neighborhood, demanding protection money from store owners and breaking legs when it's not paid. His little gang member minions are all humans, and one of them just showed up at my new business insisting I pay him my monthly 'insurance premium', or face the boss himself. Excellent story- very engaging!! I love this author. But the trauma drama feels a little gratuitous.
Revisado: 12-20-24
I really enjoy this writer. She’s really creative and has interesting stories to tell.
But I found myself ffwd’ing through many scenes with long exposition of drama. The aggressive bitterness pointed at the main character feels a tad unrealistic and needlessly stressful; pulling me out of the story.
I guess I tend to expect a little more subtlety from external character and/or villain drama, even while the main character is feeling their feels.
Perhaps it’s simply a cultural difference that I am not quite acclimated to.
However, even with the high bureaucratic and class drama, I have found English and Australian writers to be much more creative and to have fresher stories than American writers do.
Keep it up! Hopefully we can get all of the series on audible?
I’m curious to know why they’re all being released out of order?

Okay, I might be seriously under-qualified for the job of Enforcer, I'll admit. The Enforcer is supposed to be a human, for starters. It's usually an ex-special forces guy with big muscles and even bigger balls, and a knack for sorting out petty squabbles between the witches and vampires and shifters in the city. And I'm just a technically dead nail tech—an animated skeleton with a talent for illusion magic and gold gel manicures. But I've recently discovered that I can manifest some pretty big muscles of my own. I've already got the big balls, so I'm halfway there.
