Historia
Border and Rule explores a number of seemingly disparate global geographies with shared logics of border rule that displace, immobilize, criminalize, exploit, and expel migrants and refugees. With her keen ability to connect the dots, Harsha Walia demonstrates how borders divide the international working class and consolidate imperial, capitalist, and racist nationalist rule.

Historia
What’s in a name? A lot. The name Tinaca, for example, has been passed down in the Jones family for generations of women. In fact, the Joneses name a Tinaca every other generation, to let the name breathe a little. To let each Tinaca shine. And shine is exactly what Tinaca Jones intends to do.

modern minstrel show?
Revisado: 01-09-20
Couldn't bring myself to listen to this past the first few minutes knowing it was written by a white guy, the style relies heavily on AAVE and expressions the black woman narrator would supposedly use so it just comes across as racist stereotyping/humor.

Historia
The Addictive Brain is a fair and balanced investigation of addiction, backed by hard science and behavioral science. Most of us have probably seen the old antidrug commercial in which an actor compares your brain on drugs to an egg sizzling in a hot frying pan. That's a powerful image, but it doesn't tell us what actually happens when drugs enter your body and interact with neurochemical processes.

Good, steered away from psychosocial topics though

Really helpful info! I wish there was info about life experiences, trauma, and addiction. This is enough that I still understand myself better though. :)

life-changing
Revisado: 05-30-19
It addresses a lot of important misconceptions, cultural beliefs, and bad habits for dealing with conflict. I had a few of those myself and just having my eyes opened to a better way of doing things is life-changing across many domains!

Life-changing, hope-giving
Revisado: 04-27-18
Visionary, deeply-informed book that's changed how I see myself and the world. Creates new stories for how we see the world so we can see the reciprocal relationships of us, the earth, and other beings in nature, and shows the potential of that to heal our societies.
