Historia
Wyoming, 1876. For as long as they have lived on the frontier, the Bemis and Webber families have relied on each other. With no other settlers for miles, it is a matter of survival. But when Ernest Bemis finds his wife, Cora, in a compromising situation with their neighbor, he doesn’t think of survival. In one impulsive moment, a man is dead, Ernest is off to prison, and the women left behind are divided by rage and remorse.

Definitely not for me.
Revisado: 06-06-23
Oh, where do I start? It was so hard to finish. It became tedious and mononotonous. Cora's character sounded babyish. Entire paragraphs or more were dedicated to a certain sound or feeling, or how the water fell from his face when he washed it. It had the potential of being a good story if the author had stayed with one storyline. I was so confused and bored by the end.

More informational than literary.
Revisado: 01-03-23
Many parts read too much like a textbook rather than a personal story, and there is a great story here. It was also read a little too robotically, but I would still recommend it. I came from a very small town and can relate to much of the story.

Why use so many French words?
Revisado: 12-12-22
Where to start? The plot was so weak that it was almost nonexistent. Even when the story was finished, I wondered what the point was. The author read the story like it was distasteful or beneath her to read it. I would NOT recommend it.

Wonderful, sweet story.
Revisado: 11-28-22
I loved listening to this sweet story about a woman and her family's story about her journey across the country. it was about so much more than the physical journey. It was just as much about her spiritual journey of love and learning about herself as it was a physical one. I would definitely recommend this book.

Historia
When Sandra Leigh was seven years old, she fell into the role of protector of her mother and three younger siblings. One winter night, she ushered her mother out of the house during one of her father’s tirades, and then snuck her back into the dark home through a window. Sandra was used to events like these; what she wasn’t used to were the mountains and nature surrounding her new home in West Virginia.

Very depressing story
Revisado: 11-19-22
It's rare that I struggle to finish a book, but the author was relentless in giving one grim detail after another in this one, making it very difficult to finish. I don't mind a sad story, but I kept waiting for some ray of happiness or joy. Nothing. Hopefully, this isn't a spoiler, but only the last 30 minutes offered some happiness, but not much. This book read very much like a diary, not a story. if I had to do over, I would've skipped this one.

Historia
The cold, precise Duke of Montford demands things his way: neatly ordered, in place, and adhering closely to the rules. So he is furious when he learns that the tenant of his ducal estate has been dead for a year, and a stranger has been running the Honeywell business - which, by contract, is now Montford's. When he arrives in Yorkshire to investigate, he discovers that the estate is being run by an unruly, tomboyish woman - and a bluestocking at that!

Good but not great
Revisado: 06-11-22
The story line, which originally I had liked, became tiresome. The narrator inserted a speech impediment in one of the character's voices. I'm not sure why or even if it was intentional but it became distracting.
