Historia
The remote island of Masquapaug has not seen a dragon in many generations—until fifteen-year-old Anequs finds a dragon’s egg and bonds with its hatchling. Her people are delighted, for all remember the tales of the days when dragons lived among them and danced away the storms of autumn, enabling the people to thrive. To them, Anequs is revered as Nampeshiweisit—a person in a unique relationship with a dragon.

Excellent storytelling
Revisado: 02-01-24
This book was so good! I'm glad I listened to the audiobook, it was really helpful with names of places and characters. This book has a great, diverse cast of characters, and the narrator did an excellent job doing different accents to help set them apart. I never had trouble knowing who was speaking. My only complaint is that I thought this was a stand alone and now I have to wait for the next one to come out!

When a sink hole opens up near the Australian outback town of Pintalba, it uncovers a pristine cave system. But, when one of the cavers is injured, he must overcome paralyzing claustrophobia to dive pitch-black waters and squeeze through the bowels of the earth. Soon he will find there are fates worse than being buried alive, for in the abandoned mines and caves beneath Pintalba, there are ravenous teeth in the dark.

Perfect for fans of Scifi Original Movies
Revisado: 01-18-24
I felt like I was listening to the script of a scifi original B movie. Not every book needs to be super descriptive, but this book could have used a bit more descriptions, especially during transition scenes. The characters constantly made the worst choices possible that you'd only see in a movie. Character development and diversity was lacking. This book felt fast paced, but almost nothing happens until half way through, which felt odd. Per usual, the female characters are useless and multiple male characters recieve debilitating and catastrophic injuries and are just fine. The narrator did a very odd thing where sometimes all the characters would sound exactly the same. I'm sure there are people who will really enjoy this book, I just wasn't one of them.

The Movie Was Better
Revisado: 01-06-24
I see people praise this book constantly, and while I don't let other people's opinions make my decisions for me, I was unprepared for how bad this book ended up being. It was about 3x longer than it should have been. For the majority of the book, nothing happens. The characters are cardboard cut out archetypes. The two females characters are some of the worst written women I have ever read. I don't know how many times the word "implacably" is used in this book, but if I never have to hear it again that would be great. This whole book felt like the author had an idea he wanted to use, but didn't bother to plot out the execution before writing it. I wasn't a fan of the narrator, and his female voices weren't good. There's a lot more I could say but I'll end it here.

I wasn't sure how to feel about this one at first. You don't get much background on any of the characters, but as the book went on I decided that wasn't a bad thing. I'm not a romance reader, but I came to really care about Orym and Pains relationship. I liked the character growth, and how you slowly learn more about everyone's motivations. The narrator was phenomenal, she did an excellent job! I always knew who was speaking. Overall I really enjoyed this book.

one of my favorite books of the year
Revisado: 12-18-23
Mira Grant is an automatic buy for me now. I really enjoyed that this was a creature feature without feeling the need to get excessive and ridiculous. Not every horror story needs the final girl in her tanktop with a giant weapon and one liner to finish things off. This story focuses less on oh no big scary monster, and more on understanding those monsters, their biology, and how they'd actually function in our world. It's not a fast book, and I think that fit with the way the story is told. I loved this, but I can also see why some people might not. I think the narrator did an excellent job and was perfect for the role. My single complaint is that the narrator mispronounces "Melusine", and since it's a pretty common word in the book, it did get slightly annoying.

Quite enjoyed this one! it was my first Ania Ahlborn and I'm excited to read other works by her. I didn't love how the narrator voiced the female characters, so I'll probably read a physical copy of this book at some point, I think I'll like it more that way.

I think I need to read a physical copy of this, because I really wanted to love it and I really didn't. the narrator was phenomenal, which is why I kept listening, but for the book itself I just didn't vibe with it. I'm going to try again at some point with a physical copy and see if I like it more then.

Historia
In December 1975, the Lutz family moved into their new home on suburban Long Island. George and Kathleen Lutz knew that, one year earlier, Ronald DeFeo had murdered his parents, brothers, and sisters in the house, but the property - complete with boathouse and swimming pool - and the price were too good to pass up. This is the shocking true story of an American dream that turned into a nightmare beyond imagining for the Lutz family, who were forced to flee their new home in terror.

I wanted to love it
Revisado: 11-21-23
It's an interesting story. I know it's an alleged recounting of a true story and it's not supposed to read like a novel, but I was having a hard time caring about what might happen next. Maybe it was the child and animal abuse, but I just did not care about either of the parents. Overall it was an okay time, but I think if I had been reading a physical copy and not listening during my commute, I probably would have DNF'ed it.
