Historia
Springerville is famous for the legend of the Mongolian Monster. Of course nobody really believes it. It’s just a good campfire story, something to attract gullible tourists until an excavation team unearths the figurine of a screaming woman, the jawbone of a deformed animal, and a child’s toy. How odd that they were buried together. Odd, too, is the foul odor lingering in the air, the strange noises at night, and the man’s face found hanging from a tree. Now the locals are locking their doors. Because after sundown, campfire stories can seem very, very real.

Poorly written
Revisado: 03-04-25
I couldn’t make it all the way through this book. I’ve read other books by Bentley Little and enjoyed them. This one reads like a rushed one night writing with little thought put into developing the story. The idea in itself is very interesting, but the execution of telling the story is poor. It skips along quickly And feels as if we are missing crucial pieces of the story that could build up the energy of it. There is no character development. The romantic element feels faults, superficial, and rushed. Poorly written

Historia
As Nicky Hector—the unstoppable slasher from the Lunatic horror movie franchise—Jonathan Zain reached levels of fame once unimaginable to a young actor. On top of headlining fifteen films, he appeared on MTV, had his own 976 number, and became one of the most recognizable faces of the 1980s. But that was thirty years ago. Now it’s 2010, and Zain is a has-been celebrity making his living signing autographs at fan conventions, a relic of the bygone slasher movie boom.

Cheesy, but still entertaining
Revisado: 03-27-24
The story had promise, but got to be a bit cheesy by the end. Had cliché, trauma, tropes, and bad lines. However, if one can tolerate that without too much cringe, the story overall was still enjoyable.

Historia
Jack Torrance's new job at the Overlook Hotel is the perfect chance for a fresh start. As the off-season caretaker at the atmospheric old hotel, he'll have plenty of time to spend reconnecting with his family and working on his writing. But as the harsh winter weather sets in, the idyllic location feels ever more remote...and more sinister. And the only one to notice the strange and terrible forces gathering around the Overlook is Danny Torrance, a uniquely gifted five-year-old.

Favorite King story
Revisado: 02-11-24
This is definitely my favorite Stephen King story. I appreciate how we get to know Jack and his struggles with his alcoholism, and how that plays out throughout the story. I also appreciate how with both Wendy and Jack, we can see history and enter generational trauma, connecting to each of their parents in their childhood And wanting to do a different with their child. Their experiences at the overlook are brilliantly written to wear initially it’s small, insidious experiences all the way up until the evil of the hotel cannot be denied. My favorite King book

A bit unbelievable
Revisado: 02-02-24
Overall, the idea of the story was pretty good, but the further into it it got the more unrealistic and unbelievable it became. There’s just simply no way higher-ups in the FBI would put up with teenage kids disobeying orders every turn.

Historia
This is a tale of murder. Or maybe that’s not quite true. At its heart, it’s a love story, isn’t it? Lana Farrar is a reclusive ex-movie star and one of the most famous women in the world. Every year, she invites her closest friends to escape the English weather and spend Easter on her idyllic private Greek island.

Relationship with the narrator
Revisado: 01-30-24
Without giving anything away, I was very intrigued by how the readers relationship with the narrator changes as the book unfolds. I am a therapist and found a lot of the psychological components that Elliott speaks of to be accurate. All of the characters ultimately are just searching for a basic human need of wanting to love and be loved.

Historia
The small town of Harrod’s Reach has seen its fair share of the macabre, especially inside the decrepit old train tunnel around which the town was built. After a young boy, Sully Dupree, is injured in the abandoned tunnel and left in a coma, the townspeople are determined to wall it up. Deputy sheriff Beth Gardner is reluctant to buy into the superstitions until she finds two corpses at the tunnel’s entrance, each left with strange calling cards inscribed with old lullabies. Soon after, Sully Dupree briefly awakens from his coma.

Shocked that it ended
Revisado: 01-28-24
I was really enjoying the story and was pretty into it and then suddenly it ended. I actually said out loud, “that’s it?“ Otherwise I liked the narrators. I enjoyed getting to know the different characters and their connections to each other and the history of the town.

It was just OK
Revisado: 01-17-24
I experienced the first half of the story, dragging on, and on. Once Luke had been captured and held captive by blood frenzy, things got confusing that I don’t feel wherever fully explained. Given everything that Luke went through, I found the ending quite dissatisfying.

To descriptive
Revisado: 11-17-23
I found myself getting annoyed, trying to get through the story. Kuntz overly described too many things to the point that the descriptions, slow down the movement of the story. It could’ve been much more exciting if there was less descriptors of items in context that were of no consequence to the story itself.

Incredible and illuminating story
Revisado: 11-04-23
This is such an amazing and gripping story right from the beginning. I listened to this book in two days because I could not stop. As a white person it was illuminating to experience through the eyes and ears and body of Black people during segregation. I’m involved in anti-racism work, and I am a therapist and would recommend this book to many. I especially liked how at the end the author made connections to her own family history.

Historia
Christopher Golden's Ararat is the heart-pounding tale of an adventure that goes wrong - on a biblical scale. When an earthquake reveals a secret cave hidden inside Mount Ararat in Turkey, a daring, newly engaged couple are determined to be the first ones inside...and what they discover will change everything. The cave is actually a buried ancient ship that many quickly come to believe is Noah's Ark. When a team of scholars, archaeologists, and filmmakers make it inside the ark, they discover an elaborate coffin in its recesses.

Suspenseful and engaging story
Revisado: 07-08-23
I was surprised to see that the reviews came out to a 3.8 for this novel. That was not my experience at all. I thought the story provided character death highlighting the relationships between the characters along side and intriguing and scary story. Diversity and the tensions that can com from that were demonstrated in the story, which can be a microcosm of our broader society. The story delved into something exploring religious differences while trying to keep science and reason at the forefront. I highly recommend this book. I am visually impaired, and this review was dictated.
