Historia
Preacher and his son Hawk are riding the High Lonesome when the clear mountain air is split by a girl's savage screams. A gang of ruthless trappers has kidnapped a Crow woman, but before they escape with her, Preacher and Hawk burst out of the tree line, guns spitting fire. They drive the trappers off, only to find that she's not Crow, but white. Caroline has been raised by the Crow since childhood, the only people she's ever known. To get her home, Preacher and Hawk will have to blast their way off this mountain, gunning down kill-crazy trappers and merciless Blackfeet warriors.

Historia
Luke Ransom was just 18 years old when he answered an ad in a St. Louis newspaper that would change his life forever. The American Fur Company needed 100 enterprising men to travel up the Missouri River - the longest in North America - all the way to its source. They would hunt and trap furs for one, two, or three years. Along the way, they would face unimaginable hardships: grueling weather, wild animals, hunger, exhaustion, and hostile attacks by the Blackfeet and Arikara. Luke Ransom was one of the brave men chosen for the job - and one of the few to survive....

First of all, I tip my hat to the author and narrator; both produced a superb story. It has been awhile since I was intrigued from start to finish. My only disappointment was the book ended. I hope it continues as a series.

Historia
When Ben Savage receives a telegram informing him that an old friend died - and left him his saloon - he’s not sure what to think. Western saloons are as wild as it gets, full of rowdy ranchers and cocky cowboys, high-stakes gamblers and low-life drifters, hard liquor and easy women. Then there’s the occasional outlaw gang. But when Savage travels to Buzzard’s Bluff, Texas, to check out his inheritance, he meets the saloon’s lovely manager, Rachel Baskin, and has a change of heart.

Enjoyable Story
Revisado: 05-14-23
The author and narrator did a great job in bringing this story to life. The best way I can demonstrate how much I enjoyed the book, is to share with everyone that I just purchased the second series - “The Devil’s Boneyard”, Ben Savage, Book 2.

Historia
Badger Kershaw was becoming a familiar figure on the frontier after the War between the States. Riding an Appaloosa with Lobo, his dog-wolf hybrid, often by his side, he was feared by most outlaws on the dodge on whom there was a bounty. It was not a savory profession, perhaps, but Kershaw was honest about what he did. Frontier lawmen for the most part were accustomed to dealing with Kershaw. When the fugitive was willing to surrender, Kershaw would bring in an outlaw alive, but it was not an option he encountered very often.

Story was well written with some twist and turns. The narration was excellent. I would like to see the character “Badger” presented by the same reader continue in a series of books (not found any at this time); it was that enjoyable.

Historia
Crater City, New Mexico, is a bustling mining town brimming with the stench of men hungry to get rich the old fashioned way - by killing the competition. Dennis Conroy is the owner of the biggest saloon in town, and he needs a few good sharpshooters to help protect surveyors laying out a route for a spur line before his rival Hugh Thornton beats him to it. Joe Buckhorn's handy with a gun, so he takes the job. Against his best advice, he'll also take a liking to the boss's daughter. Worse, Buckhorn starts wondering exactly what kind of man he's working for.

Excellent and Highly Recommend
Revisado: 12-23-22
Once in a blue moon you come across a book that captures your attention; one you don’t want to put down / stop listening too. Although it is fiction, I found the story very compelling when you know it represents the reality what many experienced in life when going west. The authors’, William W. & J.A. Johnstone, geography are very accurate (such as, Lancaster Pike which many know only today as Route 30 in Pennsylvania) as well as historical in their description of the participants and events. The story and its’ characters are brought to life by John McLain whose narration is superb. I thank both for an very enjoyable experience, as if through my imagination I was there; also, I found this narrative version superior to the alternative “Dramatized Adaptation” version.

Sidney Crosby is ready to tell his story in his own words. As one of the greatest NHL players of all time, he reflects on his 2005-06 rookie season with the Pittsburgh Penguins. From a Canadian phenom dubbed “the next Gretzky” to an 18-year-old carrying the burden of a struggling franchise, he talks candidly about the intense pressure he was under, the surreal experience of lacing up alongside his childhood idol Mario Lemieux and the truth about his rivalry with Alex Ovechkin.
