Historia
In words that might have been ripped from today's combat dispatches, Steven Pressfield, the best-selling novelist of ancient warfare, returns with a riveting historical novel that re-creates Alexander the Great's invasion of the Afghan kingdoms in 330 B.C., a campaign that eerily foreshadows the tactics, terrors, and frustrations of contemporary conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Its okay

For those who liked Gates of Fire and Tides of War, this one is no where near as in depth in description and the story itself left me neutral. The narrator is great as he was in all Pressfield books.

mathematics for words
Revisado: 01-27-22
This book is like a math and science book for writing. It gets into terms like labyrinth sentences, cumulative syntax, subordinant clauses, and heady topics like that.
I will be honest, this one was a struggle. It took the whole month to get through, but I completed it and feel smarter for it.
If you arent into the science of how to craft a sentence the way an engineer is into the science of building a sky scraper, this isnt for you.

In this revealing compendium, acclaimed writer Diana Gabaldon shares her invaluable lessons for creating an immersive reading experience, from evoking a mood to using the power of emotions to communicate physical intimacy. You'll learn the difference between gratuitous sex and genuine encounters that move the story forward and how to handle less-than-savory acts that nevertheless serve a narrative purpose. Gabaldon also notes that sex can be conveyed instead of described.

Forget Hollywood's portrayal of violence and mayhem in ancient warfare and find out what the ancient battles were really like. What were the weapons, tactics, armor, training, and logistics? What were the crucial factors that could turn the tide of battle, giving one side victory and the other defeat? In 24 exciting lectures, Professor Fagan introduces you to the many fateful battles that became crucibles of history: the fearsome clash between the Athenians and the invading Persian army at the Marathon, Alexander the Great's crushing hammer-and-anvil tactics against the Persians at Gaugemela, and the Roman mastery of siege warfare at the Jewish fortress of Masada.

Historia
The Roman Republic was one of the most remarkable achievements in the history of civilization. After its founding in 509 BCE, the Romans refused to allow a single leader to seize control of the state and grab absolute power. The Roman commitment to cooperative government and peaceful transfers of power was unmatched in the history of the ancient world. But by the year 133 BCE, the republican system was unable to cope with the vast empire Rome now ruled.

Novas Homo!!
Revisado: 07-25-20
I never knew how many novas homes there were in ancient Rome. i mean never had so many novos homos rammed themselves to such to such heights against such stiff and throbbing competition! Sometimes the novos homos rose together like gaius Marius and throbius stiffens.
I'm not joking. alot of the book sounds like that. still 5 stars
