Historia
What do Soul Cycle, gratitude journals, and tech breaks have in common? For ter Kuile, they offer rituals that create the foundation for our modern spiritual lives. Casper ter Kuile, a Harvard Divinity School fellow and cohost of the popular Harry Potter and the Sacred Text podcast, explores how we can nourish our souls by transforming common, everyday practices - yoga, reading, walking the dog - into sacred rituals that can heal our crisis of social isolation and struggle to find purpose.

Not really interesting
Revisado: 11-26-24
Some good information. A bit jumbled despite some attempt to organize the thoughts. Appreciated the discussion on exercise culture but cannot really equate to religious exchange

Historia
Is life insurance a bad investment? Don’t I lose all my cash value when I die? Shouldn’t I just make a bundle and invest it instead? What about my spouse or my kids—do they need life insurance? Can I borrow money from (or is it against?) a life insurance policy? My insurance advisor told me one thing about insurance, but my financial planner gave me different advice, and an expert on TV said something else entirely. What do I do now? Help!

Excellent book. The “folksy” fiction part of the book was less educational and more 1950’s bad TV show “Leave It To Beaver” drama but the remainder was definitely worth the listen

Historia
Samantha is a professional seductress and con artist with a heart of gold. If she talked about her work, she’d tell you she only pilfers organs for medical research and that she only takes one kidney, and she only steals those kidneys from dishonest people. It’s hell on her social life. Abe is the doctor and Sam's partner in crime. He isn’t much of a criminal. Except for the kidney stealing. But he’s using that money to fund his research that he anticipates will be able to cure diabetes. So, all for a good cause...? You decide. Of course, it's hell on his social life.

Historia
In our unique genomes, every one of us carries the story of our species - births, deaths, disease, war, famine, migration, and a lot of sex. But those stories have always been locked away - until now. Who are our ancestors? Where did they come from? Geneticists have suddenly become historians, and the hard evidence in our DNA has completely upended what we thought we knew about ourselves. Acclaimed science writer Adam Rutherford explains exactly how genomics is completely rewriting the human story - from 100,000 years ago to the present.

Historia
It was one of the most searing images of the twentieth century: two young boys, two princes, walking behind their mother’s coffin as the world watched in sorrow—and horror. As Princess Diana was laid to rest, billions wondered what Prince William and Prince Harry must be thinking and feeling—and how their lives would play out from that point on.

A pleasant surprise. Fantastic book
Revisado: 02-12-23
I had my doubts when buying this book. Was it going to be a rant from a spoiled member of the luck sperm club? I was pleasantly surprised! Astonished really! Very well read. Soothing perfectly enunciated speech from The Prince. Such amazing depth to the man. I would follow him and happily buy him a cup of coffee for his mere conversation.

Historia
At work, we’re taught to lead the conversation. On social media, we shape our personal narratives. At parties, we talk over one another. So do our politicians. We’re not listening. And no one is listening to us. Despite living in a world where technology allows constant digital communication and opportunities to connect, it seems no one is really listening or even knows how. And it’s making us lonelier, more isolated, and less tolerant than ever before. A listener by trade, New York Times contributor Kate Murphy wanted to know how we got here.

Historia
Traveling across millennia, weaving the experiences and world views of cultures both extinct and extant, The Invention of Yesterday shows that the engine of history is not so much heroic (battles won), geographic (farmers thrive), or anthropogenic (humans change the planet) as it is narrative. Many thousands of years ago, when we existed only as countless small autonomous bands of hunter-gatherers widely distributed through the wilderness, we began inventing stories - to organize for survival, to find purpose and meaning, to explain the unfathomable.

Way more than I bargained for! Phenomenal book
Revisado: 02-13-22
It starts out as a history of the universe that evolves into a broad outline of things past. In reality, it ties in all of our past developments to our current changes in thought. It asks…who will we become and how can we get there? Let’s look at who we were. I can’t beg you enough to listen to this as an audiobook!

Historia
The Wealthy Gardener required 33 years to complete: the first 30 to earn financial freedom, the last three to write the life lessons on prosperity. This book was originally a series of missives between a financially independent father and his son who was about to embark on his life’s own question for financial achievement. It offers timeless wisdom to clarify the ways of prosperity.

The claims process has become so automated that legitimate claims are denied without ever being seen by human eyes. Exceptions and exclusions are buried within small print that can bury your claim. Many claims departments operate under a culture of paranoia in which legitimate claims are denied, sometimes accidentally, sometimes not. Commercial and individual policyholders pay premiums with the understanding that insurers will pay claims fairly, fully, and promptly. It’s time for the insurance industry to Pay Up!.
