Historia
As Zach Meerkreebs ended his sermon on the campus of Asbury University, he challenged, “Do not leave here until you experience the love of God so that you can pour it out.” Several students remained, praying and worshipping, and others joined them until a crowd formed that grew to over 65,000 and covered the campus and small Kentucky town. As the worshipping and praying continued, for sixteen days and nights, the media began reporting on what came to be called the Asbury Outpouring. In Lower, Zach shares his experiences at the Outpouring and answers his own question, what sparked this revival?

This world is no friend to grace. God has given us some resources, however. As we grow in character qualities like hope, patience, repentance and joy, we ill grow in our ability to persevere. The biblical passages in these studies offer encouragement to continue in the path Christ has set forth for us.

Maybe the best book I’ve ever read
Revisado: 08-07-22
I think this is my favorite book I’ve ever read. The themes and characters are woven together so beautifully. The story cuts to the core of something in all of us. I listened to the end of the book standing on the corner of 74th and Columbus Ave in New York City, and I weeped under a tree for fifteen minutes as it rained. This book helped me realize the kind of person I want to be and the life I want to lead.

Historia
Born to survivalists in the mountains of Idaho, Tara Westover was seventeen the first time she set foot in a classroom. Her family was so isolated from mainstream society that there was no one to ensure the children received an education, and no one to intervene when one of Tara’s older brothers became violent. When another brother got himself into college, Tara decided to try a new kind of life. Her quest for knowledge transformed her, taking her over oceans and across continents, to Harvard and to Cambridge University.

How did Fidel Castro fool the CIA for a generation? Why did Neville Chamberlain think he could trust Adolf Hitler? Why are campus sexual assaults on the rise? Do television sitcoms teach us something about the way we relate to each other that isn't true? While tackling these questions, Malcolm Gladwell was not solely writing a book for the page. He was also producing for the ear. In the audiobook version of Talking to Strangers, you’ll hear the voices of people he interviewed - scientists, criminologists, military psychologists.

Hand Malcolm the Audible award now!
Revisado: 10-23-19
Gladwell once again proves why he is the best in the world at what he does - creating captivating audio content in this genre. This audiobook is a masterpiece. The book's content does have flaws. He doesn't come to much in the way of conclusions, reaches to connect some of his points, and ignores certain complexities in cases. But as an audiobook (production, editing, performance) it is a delight. Malcolm, thanks for again going above and beyond to deliver a remarkably enjoyable experience.

Historia
Austin Channing Brown’s first encounter with a racialized America came at age seven, when she discovered her parents named her Austin to deceive future employers into thinking she was a white man. Growing up in majority-white schools and churches, Austin writes, “I had to learn what it means to love blackness,” a journey that led to a lifetime spent navigating America’s racial divide as a writer, speaker, and expert helping organizations practice genuine inclusion.

Historia
Kiese Laymon is a fearless writer. In his essays, personal stories combine with piercing intellect to reflect both on the state of American society and on his experiences with abuse, which conjure conflicted feelings of shame, joy, confusion, and humiliation. Laymon invites us to consider the consequences of growing up in a nation wholly obsessed with progress yet wholly disinterested in the messy work of reckoning with where we’ve been.
