Historia
Our unconscious thought patterns determine our relationships, our spiritual life, and our connection to God to a much greater extent than we know. That’s an alarming thought, because the subconscious mind is a mysterious realm that is really difficult to access and influence...right? No. It’s really not! And it’s the most urgent and impactful thing we can do. This book will show you how.

Historia
Austin Channing Brown’s first encounter with a racialized America came at age seven, when she discovered her parents named her Austin to deceive future employers into thinking she was a white man. Growing up in majority-white schools and churches, Austin writes, “I had to learn what it means to love blackness,” a journey that led to a lifetime spent navigating America’s racial divide as a writer, speaker, and expert helping organizations practice genuine inclusion.

Too Black and White
Revisado: 07-04-21
I truly appreciate hearing Austin’s perspective, experience and vulnerability in sharing. Life is always enriched when we seek to understand one another and seek to be understood. However, this memoir definitely needs to be understood as one perspective on race relations in the US, which are far more complicated than portrayed in this book. Austin’s ideology is very black and white (literally speaking) but we always do ourselves, and society in general, a disservice when we try to make complicated issues so binary. I have family members who are mixed in the racial makeup that could never relate to the dichotomy suggested in this book.
