Good story / even better performance
Revisado: 07-28-24
This is the first part of a two-part story. It's interesting to listen to and the narrator's performance makes it even more interesting. You have to buy the second book of the series so it leave you wanting more. This isn't necessarily bad...it just leaves you wanting more at the end.

Historia
This is the sprawling story of what led to the Ghosn Shock and what was left in its wake. The book chronicles Ghosn's two decades building a colossal partnership between Nissan and Renault. To the world it looked like a new model for a global business, but the alliance's shiny image fronted an unsteady, tense operation. Culture clashes, infighting among executives and engineers, dueling corporate traditions, and government maneuvering constantly threatened the venture.

A great overview of the Ghosn saga
Revisado: 09-06-21
I bought "Collision course" because I wanted to learn more about the Carlos Ghosn saga. After finishing the book I learned much more. The book, not only offers details behind the former Nissan CEO story, but also provides, a pretty good overview of how Japanese companies operate and the overall business environment in Japan. It starts with the Ghosn story but also paints the larger story of the Japanese automotive industry.
I would be really hard-pressed to find any faults with "Collision Course". If I was really nitpicking, I would probably say that it feels that the narrator tried a little bit too hard with the Carlos Ghosn accent. It might be weird the first couple of times you listen to it, but after a while it actually contributes to the whole experience. You know that when you listen to the weird accent that it's Carlos Ghosn's direct quotes being read. It's also worth searching on the internet and watching some Carlos Ghosn videos. His accent is actually quite good.
In summary, buy this book if you went to learn more about the Carlos Ghosn story from the moment he joined Nissan to the point he made his escape. It also offers a pretty extensive overview of the stunning inner workings of Nissan, the Japanese justice system and the larger Japanese automotive industry.

Historia
Today, there are three Americas. At one extreme are the brain hubs with workers who are among the most productive, creative, and best-paid on the planet. At the other extreme are former manufacturing capitals that are rapidly losing jobs and residents. The rest of America could go either way. For the past 30 years, the three Americas have been growing apart at an accelerating rate. This divergence is one the most important developments in the history of the US and is reshaping the very fabric of our society. But the winners and losers aren't necessarily who you'd expect.

Very insightful book.
Revisado: 08-10-21
I enjoyed listening to "the new geography of jobs". I found it insightful, well-researched and overall interesting. If you ever wanted to get a better understanding of the landscape of work as it relates to geography, why certain regions get most of the jobs while others don't, education impact to the landscape of jobs and other factors then, this is the book for you.
Big props to the narrator, Sean Pratt. His reading made listening to the book even more interesting as the content of the book itself.

After devastating losses at the hands of the First Order, General Leia Organa has dispatched her agents across the galaxy in search of allies, sanctuary, and firepower - and her top spy, Vi Moradi, may have just found all three, on a secluded world at the galaxy’s edge. A planet of lush forests, precarious mountains, and towering, petrified trees, Batuu is on the furthest possible frontier of the galactic map, the last settled world before the mysterious expanse of Wild Space.

Entertaining story
Revisado: 10-07-19
Pros:
1. Delilah S. Dawson writing is excellent: She builds up a great story that keeps you guessing what's going to happen next. She also dives in to the psyche of her characters and provides you with great insights on their motives. It's very well done and i do enjoy that level of detail.
2. January LaVoy's narration. After her excellent narration in Phasma, she's becoming one of my favorite Star Wars narrators (along with Marc Thompson).
3. A continuation of "Phasma". "Phasma" by the same author is probably one of the best recent Star Wars books. Reading what happened to the characters after the events in Phasma is certainly interesting.
Cons:
1. A promotion for a theme park: As one might expect, the book focuses on Disney's new Star Wars theme park. Expect to read/listen 2-3 chapters describing the park (i.e Black Spire Outpost) in excruciating detail.
2. Story is good - not great: I found that the story was interesting and kept my interest - mainly because of the events that took place during "Phasma". At the same time, I felt that while it was good, it wasn't as good as Delilah S. Dawson's original book. Part of the challenge is that it promotes a theme park so it's somewhat limited in the places it introduces.

Historia
On The Power of Vulnerability, Dr. Brown offers an invitation and a promise - that when we dare to drop the armor that protects us from feeling vulnerable, we open ourselves to the experiences that bring purpose and meaning to our lives. Here she dispels the cultural myth that vulnerability is weakness and reveals that it is, in truth, our most accurate measure of courage.

Prrobaby one of the best books I’ve ever listened to.
Revisado: 07-07-18
The audio book covers a series of lectures from the author. I certainly prefer this format than someone someone else’s book. Its content is life altering. There is a brutal honesty that the speaker carries that hits you right away. Very highly recommended.
