Unlikable, unrealistic, cliché characters.
Revisado: 03-27-25
The subject is interesting, but the whole story is unrealistic. The characters were just cookie cutter.
I'm sorry. I love John Green, but not this book.

Historia
In 2019, author John Green met Henry Reider, a young tuberculosis patient at Lakka Government Hospital in Sierra Leone. John became fast friends with Henry, a boy with spindly legs and a big, goofy smile. In the years since that first visit to Lakka, Green has become a vocal advocate for increased access to treatment and wider awareness of the healthcare inequities that allow this curable, preventable infectious disease to also be the deadliest, killing over a million people every year. In Everything Is Tuberculosis, John tells Henry’s story.

John Green Uses his megaphone perfectly.
Revisado: 03-26-25
An emotional historical accounting of how our deadliest pandemic influenced the world, and how it is our privilege to do our best to influence this illness out of existence.
I appreciate the lyrical way John Green recounts stories of death and life, defeat and triumph, of human beings who are unfairly affected by this disease.
My tubercular relatives were great uncle Venard, who grandma said "..left for the sanitarium a boy, and returned a man", and my great Aunt Evelina, who my grandpa said, "Was so big and strong, like a man, until she married a no-account man who didn't fix his house, so she was weak with consumption when she had a baby, and passed away shortly after." Venard went on to serve in WWII, but Evelina never recovered, dying at 24 years old.
Let's kick this disease. Even if we have to crowdfund it all.
Thank you, John.

Imagine a job where you work four days a week and earn as much as the CEO. You also get full benefits, a gym membership, free lunch, and unlimited time off, no questions asked. Hard-won profits don’t just end up in the CEO’s pocket—they’re distributed equally among all employees. The company even buys you your very own car. It sounds too good to be true, but this is the reality at Tunnel Vision, the clothing company that Madeline Pendleton built from the ground up.

Verifiable lies.
Revisado: 04-02-24
I was able to determine several continuity errors. This made the flow of reading difficult. Many things she said are unverifiable, and many lies were verifiable. I do not recommend this book.

Historia
In the 1900s, the average American lifespan was 47.7 years. Today, it is 78.8 years. 10,000 baby boomers turn 65 every day. In just over 10 years, 20% of the US population will be 65 and over. So, what are we doing to care for this growing population? The urgency around that question inspired Martha to start working with the Mount Sinai Health System NYC 15 years ago. Today’s episode will be the first in a series of conversations that specifically addresses the needs of our aging population. Dan Josebachvili created a wearable medical device, the Silvertree Reach, to help older adults stay ...

Heartbreaking and eye-opening.
Revisado: 01-12-24
This was well written, obviously full of truth, and respectful of the Princess, and her sons, William and Harry. The tragedy of Diana's life started in her childhood, escalated with her envolvement with Prince Charles, and only ended with that fateful automobile accident. She was so much more important than I realized before this book.

I’ve been in this life for fifty years, been trying to work out its riddle for forty-two, and been keeping diaries of clues to that riddle for the last thirty-five. Notes about successes and failures, joys and sorrows, things that made me marvel, and things that made me laugh out loud. How to be fair. How to have less stress. How to have fun. How to hurt people less. How to get hurt less. How to be a good man. How to have meaning in life. How to be more me. Recently, I worked up the courage to sit down with those diaries.

It feels like outrage farming.
Revisado: 07-02-21
It has the feel of people who are not wise pretending wisdom. I think I was supposed to be outraged as a woman. I don't see these meek, subservient women in my circles, so this may just be the truth for her, but not for me. YMMV.
