Preferred the first one
Revisado: 11-15-24
I liked the last one and looked forward to this. I'm not sure if it was the performances that made it extra melodramatic. Lots of oh my god and overdone reactions.

Wonderful fun story
Revisado: 10-17-24
These stories had us roaring with laughter. My only caveat is several instances of rough language and God's name in vain I wish hadn't been in there. The narrator is fantastic. The music at the beginning of the chapters was so loud we could barely hear the words over it.

Fantastic narrator
Revisado: 03-29-23
Tolstoy gives us an honest view of human nature. I loved how he captured the lability of people’s thoughts and emotions. The Russian names were a little hard to keep straight in the audio experience. But aside from that, Horovitch does a phenomenal job of capturing the characters’ state of mind in his performance. I’d pick a book just because he was narrating.

Historia
Jazz Bashara is a criminal. Well, sort of. Life on Artemis, the first and only city on the moon, is tough if you're not a rich tourist or an eccentric billionaire. So smuggling in the occasional harmless bit of contraband barely counts, right? Not when you've got debts to pay and your job as a porter barely covers the rent. Everything changes when Jazz sees the chance to commit the perfect crime, with a reward too lucrative to turn down.

More strong language than usual

More strong language than in the Martian or Hail Mary. The story was entertaining and kept me listening and the narrator did a great job.

Narration is flawless
Revisado: 07-21-22
The story is reflective of the time and mindset, which is hard to hear. Scarlett is endlessly selfish and reaps what she sews. The ending is hard to accept, so I recommend quickly following with Ripley’s “sequel,” Scarlett.
I would listen to almost anything narrated by Linda Stephens. She’s fantastic!

Don’t do it
Revisado: 02-14-20
I had high hopes for this. I ignored the reviews because I liked the Night Circus and the author’s beautiful prose. Plus a story about stories? Be still my heart! I expected a beautifully written novel, challenging and stimulating. What I ended up trudging through was a looong bizarre, disconnected, over-reaching, abstract disappointment.
The characters were unrelatable. The bees were the best character. The honey was distracting (everywhere, what a mess).
The narrators did a fantastic job, but at the end of the day you’re still stuck with an author trying way too hard to live up to her debut novel. It was a mess.

Historia
The legend of King Arthur - founder of Camelot and wielder of Excalibur - was born of disputed historical fact, folktales, and romantic literary invention. Compiled by Geoffrey of Monmouth in the twelfth century and edited by Sir James Knowles in the nineteenth, these stories begin with Merlin’s prophecies of Arthur’s birth. We follow the king from the fellowship of the Round Table to the quest for the Holy Grail and into war with Sir Lancelot of the Lake. Knowles’s 1862 edition, dedicated to Alfred Tennyson, returned Arthur to cultural prominence....

Heart breaking and real.

The narrators were phenomenal. This is a difficult subject to read, but the story moves between characters enough to make it more bearable. I especially appreciated that the story didn't end with the war and we are left with closure.
